Why are anyone who didn't win their domestic league in the competition?
No country who has never qualified for the world cup should be allowed to host it at the expense of one who has.
Sod Japan, sod Qatar, sod Blatter and his cronies!

 poor Spud

The club coefficient rankings are based on the results of clubs competing in the five previous seasons of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The rankings determine the seeding of each club in all UEFA competition draws.

UEFA Champions League points system
First qualifying round elimination – 0.5 points
Second qualifying round elimination – 1 point
Group stage participation – 4 points
Group stage win – 2 points
Group stage draw – 1 point
Round of 16 participation – 4 points

Since 2009/10 clubs have been awarded an additional point if they reach the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals or final.

NB Points are not awarded for elimination in the third qualifying round or play-offs, since those clubs move to the UEFA Europa League and are awarded points for participation in that competition.

UEFA Europa League points system
First qualifying round elimination – 0.25 points
Second qualifying round elimination – 0.5 points
Third qualifying round elimination – 1 point
Play-off elimination – 1.5 points
Group stage win – 2 points
Group stage draw – 1 point

Since 2009/10, clubs have been guaranteed a minimum of two points if they reach the group stage and are awarded an additional point if they get to the quarter-finals, semi-finals or final.

*Penalty shoot-outs do not affect the calculation system.

Coefficient calculation
Clubs' coefficients are determined by the sum of all points won in the previous five years, plus 20% of the association coefficient over the same period (33% before 2009).

These rankings will be updated after each round of UEFA club competition matches.

Kind of defeats the purpose of being a "champions" league when one of the teams seeded in the highest Pot has not been crowned champions of a league for 10 odd years..

Probably due to this silly system, 4 or 5 years ago they didn't qualify as they were still recovering from the match fixing scandal (roughly). So I'm guessing that's why they are in Pot 2.

Arsenal, Dortmund, Marseille, Napoli.

Dortmund will be keen to go one better after being defeated in last season's CL Final.

Looking forward to it, open with Dortmund at home, Arsenal wont be happy playing us last away from home.

Only problem is we play Juve and Milan on the back of Second Dortmund and Marseille games.

Nevermind, the squad runs a lot deeper now.

Cannot wait.
