Re: Man Utd
Not many people having a laugh at Rio anymore on here. Still the best English defender along with Terry. Johnny Evans looking the goods alongside him also.
The future is definitely bright in the defence department for United with Smalling, Jones and Rafael as well!

Re: Man Utd
It's always amazing when again & again we keep seeing headed goals from corners like Wellbeck's where there was no defender on the post. If Real Madrid had a man there it would have been a simple clearance on the line after the 'keeper was beaten.
But wait, Madrid carried the smart-muscat modern way by some teams of defending corners too far by not having a defender on EITHER post! Is it because the 'keeper or the team back themselves to stop the attack at source? if so, the over-rated Ramos got nowhere near Wellbeck & Real got what they deserved conceding that one.

The thing i don't understand is why Arbeloa was standing in the middle of the goals. What's the point of that ? Lopez was covering that area. It doesn't make sense.
Ramos should be a right back and nothing more, Varane is a great young defender and will work well paired with pepe i reckon.
Re: Man Utd
Jose came out n blamed ramos
Rio has been looking great, hes always had good composure on the ball
Johnny Evans, still not convinced lol hes been great so far, and if he continues it for the rest of the yr then ill be convinced

It's alot to do with Phil Jones i think.
It's been a while since someone stepped into Fletcher's shoes and i think he's been the difference lately.
He pretty much marked Fellaini out of the game last week and this week did a really good job covering for the wing backs.

We're fooked in Rio anyway but more than likely won't even qualify.God is an Englishman wrote:Jimbob wrote:Not many people having a laugh at Rio anymore on here. Still the best English defender along with Terry. Johnny Evans looking the goods alongside him also.

The simple fact is that Ferdinand is better than and playing better than every centre half who currently gets picked ahead him for England at the moment.
He isn't the future though so can sort of see Woy's reasoning for excluding his best defender.

Don't know how much of an accolade that is.
Who else is there ?
JT( who you said was as good), Cahill, Lescott?, Jagielka ?, Smalling isn't good enough yet.
Who am i missing ? Jones i guess? but he's a CDM.

It's interesting because everyone says that Baines is better now.
Re: Man Utd
Personally I think Cahill is the best English centre half.

Re: Man Utd
Not much in it but until Baines puts in performances in massive games like Cole did last season in ECL then Cashley just edges it for me. Chelsea wouldn't have won the trophy without Cole in the team and that's saying a lot for a left back.Litmanen wrote:Jimbob wrote:True. Re: Man Utd
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-21478857Last week's 1-1 draw between Manchester United and Real Madrid was "the match the world wants to see", according to the Spanish team's coach, Jose Mourinho. In fact, Manchester United claim any of their matches is of interest to one in 10 of the world's seven billion people. What is the evidence for this claim?
Even the most ardent opponent of Manchester United would acknowledge that the club has fans right around the world. But the statement that it has a global following of 659 million adults - out of a total five billion adults in the world - is still quite staggering.
Interesting article. Love the end of it disgussing how American's generally think the NFL is popular internationally.
