Juve vs Inter

Post by El Pibe D'Oro »

My 2 cents - did not see the 1st half but by all reports Juventus should have been in front by more.

The penalty was very soft, although RAI camera angles aren't great so I'll reserve judgement until I see it again.

After the penalty Inter were very very smart and I thought Stramacionni's substitutes were spot on. Milito is a beast and Palacio played well.

Just looked at a few highlights - Asamoah clearly offside for the first goal when put through for Vucinic and Liechsteiner should have gone, but like I said didnt see the first half so unsure of the flow of that part.

Makes everything fairly interesting anyway.

Credit to Inter, we were outplayed. Tactically they were superior and they won key individual battles. Once again we fail to put chances away and eventually, when you play a good team, you get punished. And to be frank, that was a wake-up call Juve needed. Performances have been lacking and now its been shown that we cannot coast through matches or the season. Now a big test for Conte and Alessio ahead of the Champions League.

Could say it's been coming. Admittedly we were very lucky in the Catania game and it took a 93rd minute winner to beat Bologna, so hopefully this is the kick in the pants we need.

If we don't take three points in the CL midweek, we will be knocked out. Simple as that.

When we had the ascendancy in the first 1/2 hour we needed to bury them.
After that with Zanetti shutting down Asamoah we seemed to wait for someone to do something.
Inter took charge and deserved the win.

Also, it's becoming more evident week after week that we NEED a striker.

There's only so long that Vidal, Pirlo and the rest of the midfield contingent can chip in with goals, and I'm not sure that the constant striker rotation policy is actually working.

Anyway, January is not too far away and hopefully by that time we've made it out of the group of the CL and are still sitting around the top of Serie A. There should be a host of big names available for our needs. Llorente, Drogba, Cardozo (Benfica) and even Suarez if Liverpool continue to struggle as they have been.
