Serie A round 1

Post by Juventino »

Atalanta - Lazio
Chievo - Bologna
Fiorentina - Udinese
Genoa - Cagliari
Juventus - Parma
Milan - Sampdoria
Palermo - Napoli
Pescara - Inter
Roma - Catania
Siena - Torino

The schedule is not up yet, but I believe Rai will be showing Fiorentina v Udinese (Sun 1:30am), Juventus v Parma (Sun 4:15am), Milan v Sampdoria (Mon 1:30am) and Pescara v Inter (Mon 4:15am).

Interested to see how the new-look Milan sides do. The Rossoneri looked to have regressed, especially after the Cassano sale and latest Pato injury. Will be a good first-up test for Sampdoria and Ciro Ferrara. Inter look to be building nicely and have plenty of run in the legs already given their Europa League commitments. Will be hard to judge Pescara and Stroppa on one match, they are such a patchwork team in comparison to last year, but an early indicator nonetheless.

Juve have a few injuries to deal with vs Parma. No Buffon, Caceres, Isla and Pepe, plus Chiellini is set to miss. Conte in the stands.

Napoli also have players missing as they take on the new-look Palermo, themselves not at full strength. Word that Aronica may be starting wing-back for Napoli due to players missing in that role. Looking forward to seeing what Insigne can do.

Roma another intriguing team, we'll see how much of an impact Zeman has already. Fiorentina v Udinese should be a beauty with the talent on show there, especially for the hosts.

Finally calcio is back. Bring on the next nine months.

That's odd, because it definitely did when I checked and you're right, now the games aren't there.

Seems that for round 1 and 2 the main game time is 20:45, 4:15 our time, does anyone know if this is going to be the new time instead of around 15:00 (10:30 our time) which we have been use to? This would be pretty annoying

Only for the first two rounds (reason given is that it's too hot to play in the day), then for Round 3 it goes back to normal.

Solid win. Impossible to tell from the replays whether Pirlo's crossed the line or not, but it's a long season and these calls will even themselves out for sure.

Great run and cross by Asamoah for the first goal. Lucio has snapped ankle ligaments in training, meaning he could be out for a long time. In addition to Chiellini not being at full fitness after the EURO, Caceres still being injured and Marrone having to step in as a CB, Marrotta might have some work to do for the defence before the transfer window closes.

Isla got through 90 minutes in the youth team which is good to see. Hopefully won't be long before we see him out there for the big boys.

Yeah okaaayyyy.

Have another look. If the referee or linesman have any shadow of doubt hey should not be giving them.

By the looks of things Juventus deserved the win, but Lichsteiner is a dog, I hope you sell him to PSG - 18 million???? if you get that Marrotta should get locked up for robbery!!! He is a shiraz dog. Not just because of the dive either.

Did those two decisions even themselves out during the game??

First of all, he was clearly caught by Mirante. That wasn't the issue. It was that he was probably offside in the build up. And yes they did even themselves out genius, because Vidal missed the penalty that followed from it!

And if PSG are going to pay 14m for a kid that's never stepped foot into a serie a pitch then Licht is worth every cent of that 18m considering he was the best RB in Italy last year and is an established international. Idiot

Sluggish in the first half but much better after the break. Parma did well to close down any space and with Vucinic and Giovinco coming deep it didn't work too well. It got better and the pressure paid off with the two goals. The Pirlo free kick was inconclusive from initial replays, apparently on Sky and in the papers they showed/have been saying it did cross. Either way, glad to see those officials behinds the goals are there to actually do something.

Asamoah was great on debut, Giovinco played well in the second half and Marrone assured at the back. Not the best performance, but overall a good start to the campaign.

The foul for the penalty itself was clear enough, but was offside before that.

No Lucio for a while it seems, which means Marrone will be seeing more game time and that we may need to explore the market again for a backup. Isla got through 90 minutes for the Primavera team yesterday which is good, perhaps Lichtsteiner can take a role in the back three - as he did for a few friendlies - when he returns?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Cavani scored a goal for Napoli in the opening round last year that didn't cross the line. We won 1-0 I think

Actually could have been 2 seasons ago...

Indeed. It was two seasons ago, as last year was when Napoli destroyed Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi - Lavezzi scored a beauty.

Where was Pirlo's goal evened out?

Be honest and you know your football in all seriousness... Lichsteiner better than Maggio?? Isla is better than him as well.

Look, what I'm trying to say is that the beauty about the league is that it's a massive season of 38 games, so decisions are going to go for and against teams every week. At the end of the season, each team will end up where they deserve to be. Yes, Muntari's goal should have stood against Juve last season, but can anyone really say that Juve didn't deserve to be top at the end of the season?

In regards to Lichtsteiner, I'm just basing it on last season. Isla missed a big chunk through injury and although Maggio was very good, I'm just saying that Juve's overall defence was one of the best in Europe in terms of goals conceded and he played a big part in that.

Milan 0 - 1 Sampdoria
Atalanta 0 - 1 Lazio
Chievo 2 - 0 Bologna
Genoa 2 - 0 Cagliari
Palermo 0 - 3 Napoli
Pescara 0 - 3 Inter
Roma 2 - 2 Catania
Siena 0 - 0 Torino

If Galliani needed another reminder of what is required, that was it. Great result for Samp on their return, obvious problems at Milan. They were thoroughly average.

Pescara started well, could have received a penalty and then Inter score two in quick succession. After that Inter looked good and were in control. Pescara's defence worrying, but they showed promise going forward.

If you haven't seen them, check out Roma's goals. Osvaldo scores an overhead but unlike last season it was not disallowed, and new signing Lopez scored a Gascoigne v Scotland type goal to salvage a point in injury time.

Immobile scored a beauty for Genoa to seal the win, after Merkel put them in front. Also missed a penalty in the first half.

Hamsik, Maggio and Cavani on target for Napoli in what is a good start for them. Lazio also winning away eases some initial fears about how Petkovic was assembling the team.

Three teams already eating into their points deduction. Sampdoria and Torino actually out of minus points, Siena still got some way to go but at least already got some off.

Overall a good first weekend of action. Glad the calcio is back.

Naps have shaken off their Palermo hoodoo the last couple of years

Palermo away to Lazio this week could see our first coaching casualty!!!!!!!

Fiorentina at home should be a intriguing match up

With 2 games at home in a row would be great to set us up for the season followed up with another tricky away clash v Catania

Always good to play Milan early on in the season. Thats where you will pick up points against them
FOOTBALL IS A FOREIGN GAME FOR HOOLIGANS & DRUNKEN PSYCHO-FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Solid result - good to see Insigne get the debut out the way away from home less pressure.

Vargas with an assist - we need to let the lad grow, he is going to be very good.

My tip, Sannino first to go, closely followed by Allegri.

Yet your still gonna give me grief about Igli Tare no matter what.
