A blight on the game.
Some people tell me that we professional players are soccer slaves. Well, if this is slavery, give me a life sentence.

End of, it seems most clubs have had players guilty of doing similar at some stage. Doesnt make it right though! These things should have instant retrospective penalties/heavy fines to guilty parties.

Id be surprised if there were that many others prepared to lower themselves to this level, there is going down easily in the box, and there is blatant cheating, this is disgrace and deserves the repercussion he is recieving from fellow professionals on social media.

In general it's a tough one though, because a player running at pace only needs a slight clip to lose balance, but they do themselves no favours in the theatrics that follows.

Trouble is, there's no benefit to staying on your feet and no punishment for going over.

The thing with the one this morning, is that he actually leaped onto the ground, it's not like he just let his legs come out from underneath him.

It was more than just playing for it, he was actually simulating the connection by jumping.

Disgraceful! To do that against his former club also shows the type of shite human being he is
The ref is also at fault for paying the penalty.

Would this have been tolerated if he was still playing at Villa?

Every club has one unfortunately
I hate it too, even when Suarez does it.

The sad thing is it will continue until the league either adopt a video judge/referee
or the ref on the field can place a player on report so it can be analysed
after the event, doesn't stop the penalty but if they give a 3 week rest to players
found guilty of deliberate diving/cheating then i'm sure it will act as a deterrent
and we may rid ourselves of it from the game.
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil! :-)

Agreed, the only people who can actually stop this are the managers, they bemoan it when it happens against them but invariably defend it when one of their own does it. So long as that is the case, it'll only get worse.

Three games is insufficient IMO, make it 8 and the managers will immediately tell them to pack it in.

 @ anyone who thinks ManUtd aren't favored in the league.

For example, ManUtd's direct rivals for the title, Man City have Tevez goign through on goal in the box, gets his foot stamped on, clear penalty. Actually no, Tevez is booked for diving. Next day, Ashley Young in the box, dives like he is competing in the London 2012 Olympics... of course a stonewall penalty for ManUtd.

SAF would be laughing his bacon face off.

Which manager said this:
“You have to remember five-year-olds are watching. Players in a Sunday team do it. It happens at five or six years old. We all have a responsibility on how it influences young people.

“It’s a very difficult area because I think in the last 15 years it has crept into the game and it is not acceptable.

“I think we have to combat this by educating the players and by getting them to understand the gravity of the offence and what it does for the wellbeing of the game.”
and
@rioferdy5

Players feigning injuries or players that go down & act like they have been hit by a lorry etc do my head in massively. Punish them too??
you're right Rio..........

The PL is a brand, and it's all about brand protectionism.
The media coverage is worse.

Look at this:
http://t.co/AM6rs1O2
The guy scored a hattrick, the won 6-1 and this "journo" is frothing at the mouth to ask verbatim to Tevez if he dived when his commentators dismissed that he did. Would he dare ask this to a Man U player?

When Suarez won a penalty against Arsenal, they got the magnifying glass out and replayed end on end at least a dozen times desperate to prove there was no contact. Thought they'd get the snicko or hot spot camera.

Then Young against WBA and Villa, a couple of replays and then commentators went on to justify it all match. Dwight Yorke's comments in the mid-match coverage were pathetic, you'd never have known that he was a Villa player.

Get over it, it's part of the game.

Nothing better then winning a freekick without being touched then running up to the defender smiling :D

From where the ref was standing it looked like a clearcut penalty.

Only way to try and stamp it out is with some sought of thrid video ref which can be refered to by the offical ref and even with harsh penalties players will still do it.

Paipss Cisse
he scores when he wants.

Contact to a player when he is through on goal and in the box is a penalty 99% of the time.

There are penalties given for shirt pulls these days, thats not full contact, but its still contact and refs deem it a penalty

The only contact was when Young stepped on the defender. Young is a bottle of shiraz pig of a human, dives for a penalty and celebrates like he has won the WC in front of his former club. cabernet human.
Tommy: We've lost Gorgeous George.

Brick Top: Well, where'd you lose him? He ain't a set of fucking car keys now, is he? And it ain't as if he's incon-fucking-spicuous now, is it?

Anyway regarding Kop's previous post about SAF's comments on diving
After the game Sir Alex Ferguson warned Ashley Young that he is in danger of being branded a diver after the Manchester United winger won his second controversial penalty in the space of a week.
