Fabrice muamba collapses
Was watching spurs Bolton n Muamba collapsed. Howard Webb called the game off as medics were on the pitch for 7 minutes giving him CPR. Hopefully he pulls through. Life is way more important than football. Prayers are with him
Re: Fabrice muamba collapses
Hope he has a speedy recovery.
A side note from the deep cynic in me: people as fit as professional athletes don't/shouldn't collapse like that (barring legitimate heart confusions). Be interesting to find out what is announced as the cause.

This is starting to happen more and more...
In the last 5 years players have died in Holland, Portugal, Sweden and other leagues from heart attacks on the field. And they were professional clubs.
Surely clubs are doing something wrong?

This. Anyone remember the spate of deaths among Dutch and Belgian cyclists in the late 90s?ruud wrote:This is starting to happen more and more...

This incident sounds very, very dodgy to me. I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

A young (late 20s) girl at my work last year collapsed at work and was rushed to hospital. Unknown heart condition. The Smiff wrote:I'm not a doctor but sometimes congenital heart defects/issues yield no symptons at all.Chade wrote:A side note from the deep cynic in me: people as fit as professional athletes don't/shouldn't collapse like that (barring legitimate heart confusions). A guy at my partners work arrived one morning late last year, sat in his chair and promptly dropped dead. Unknown heart condition.
I'm sure football players aren't exempt.
I hope he recovers soon, and it was good to see the opposing teams and supporters band together, proving that, in tough times, we really are a football family...

According to my specialist the majority of heart problems in healthy people occur with no previous symptoms.
Even those with known risk factors get very little warning of attacks.

Re: Fabrice muamba collapses
FOOTBALL broke down in tears as Fabrice Muamba collapsed on the pitch at White Hart Lane.
Players and fans watched in horror as medics fought to save the stricken Bolton star's life.
The televised FA Cup clash with Spurs was abandoned as the player was rushed to hospital.
Muamba, 23, was taken to the Heart Attack Centre at the London Chest Hospital, where last night he was critically ill in intensive care.
Spurs striker Jermain Defoe, who was close to tears, declared on Twitter: "Pray for Fab, God willing he will pull through."
Tottenham team-mate Rafael van der Vaart, also visibly shaken, tweeted: "Terrible what happened. We're all praying for him."
Muamba suddenly collapsed near the halfway line after 41 minutes with the game at 1-1.
Six paramedics raced across the pitch and tried to resuscitate the England Under-21 star using a defibrillator.
ESPN cameras showed players and fans weeping as Muamba needed SIX minutes of treatment.
A heart doctor, who was in the crowd, also ran on to the pitch to help.
Muamba was carried off on a stretcher wearing an oxygen mask and flanked by medical staff who were still trying to resuscitate him as he was rushed to a waiting ambulance.
PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor added: "We are all waiting, hoping and praying. For all the football family it's a terrible thing to see."
Referee Howard Webb abandoned the game just before 6.30pm.
John Barnes, who was a Liverpool player when the Hillsbrough disaster claimed 96 lives, was commentating for ESPN.
He said: "When I saw what happened everything came flooding back to me.
"When there is something as serious as this, this is when football comes together. Football is a family and our thoughts are with him."
Fellow TV pundit Kevin Keegan added: "Everything pales into insignificance when you see something like that."
Both the FA and Premier League issued statements wishing Muamba well.

Re: Fabrice muamba collapses
There was a rumour in the UK that Bolton were considering pulling out of the FA Cup because the players didn't feel like they could play at WHL.
I hope that doesn't happen, sad though it is, what happened to Muamba could have happened anywhere and I'm sure he would want them to play.

Obviously I want Spurs to win it, but it would be kind of poetic if Bolton were to lift the trophy.dudley wrote:win it for him i say!!!!

I'm not a Bolton fan but they must play. Should he survive it will help him. Should he not then they should play as a mark of respect.

Not according to Bill Shankley.
Latest news is that Fab is showing 'signs' of recovery but is still on the critical list.
He has communicated with friends and family and has some movement in all his limbs but is still highly unstable.
