Your spot on there mate. To be fair I think New Zealand's goal was offside but the Italy penalty was pretty soft. The way De Rossi threw himself forward was like he got hit from behind by a bus, he was barely held onto. Fallon also dished up a few errant elbows but the 2 or 3 Italians who copped one milked the hell out of it 1) to get him cautioned & then 2) hopefully sent off.

I really hope they get eliminated cos I'm sick of that cabernet, especially from them.

You reckon mate? I think constantly playing cautiously for years on end is finally catching up with them & when a team does score against them they really struggle to find a winner. Their goal against Paraguay come in the last few minutes I think & they got a penalty against NZ. Apart from a couple of shots here & there I think they are struggle going forward.

Yeah but at this point in time, nothing can save us. Lippi's slow, possession play won't break anyone down. He's living in the past, on the mentality that Italy could sit back and defend. The day's of Nesta, Cannavaro, Maldini, Baresi, Gentile etc are over. Teams are scoring against us now, so we can't just sit there and not force the issue. Against a team like New Zealand, that's scored already and has put 10 men behind the ball, you cant just sit there playing the ball around the midfield hoping to pick a killer ball, you can sit there for years doing that. The ball needed to be put wide and get crosses into the box, we don't have Grosso anymore on the left and Criscito is hardly filling that gap, Zambrotta is too old and can't do it anymore either. He takes off Pepe who was putting in crosses, brings on Cameronesi who spent more time central than wide. No attacking sense with Lippi and it's easy to see because Italy havent won at all in 2010 and have only once managed to score more than 1 goal.

Essentially, unless the likes of Ranocchia, Santon and Bonucci turn out to be the new defensive rocks, Italy need to change their style and Prandelli will do that.

Why is it that Australians have this constant urge to try and attack other races, who are clearly more successful. 4 times world cup winners, compared to a team that's only made the world cup twice. I may be living in the past, but atleast i've got a past to live in and a future to look forward to. By all means, i'm not happy that Australia has no future, i support Australia just as much as Italy, but it may seem like i prefer Italy only because i have more to say about them simply because people constantly try to abuse us.

I don't defend Italy about that, i hate Lippi, since he's come back he's ruined Italy. In the WC qualifiers he should have been bringing young players through but instead he played his old men and based his entire system around them. And clearly it didnt work well because we only just scraped through qualification and did horribly at Confeds Cup. If you look at my Frustrations thread you'll know what i'm on about. Poor management has lead to a downfall in Italy but atleast he won't be coach in a months time.
