Royals snap up Hungarian starlet

Reading have completed the signing of Hungary Under-21 defender Peter Mate on a one-year loan deal.

Mate, 21, joins from reigning Hungarian champions Debreceni.

He said: "I am very happy to sign for Reading. When I was young I dreamed of playing in the Premiership and now that dream has come true.

"It is a very good opportunity for me and I hope to perform well enough to stay here longer than the one-year loan."

Reading director of football Nick Hammond added: "We're delighted to sign Péter. Like Andre Bikey, he is another quality young international player who is eager to succeed in England.

"He has great potential and all the attributes to make an impact. We hope he can be a big success at Reading Football Club".

Chairman John Madejski said: "I would like to welcome Péter to Reading Football Club. He arrives at a very exciting time and we look forward to seeing him progress with us in the Premiership."
