Kuijt named Dutch Player of the Year

New Liverpool FC signing Dirk Kuijt has not been forgotten in his homeland after being named Dutch Player of the Year.

The 26-year-old Netherlands striker scored 22 goals in 33 Eredivisie appearances for Feyenoord last season, earning a move to the Premiership in a deal worth around â‚¬15m. In an emotional ceremony he received the Player of the Year prize from his seriously ill father, with PSV Eindhoven captain Phillip Cocu second and AZ Alkmaar defender Tim de Cler third in the poll by the Telegraaf newspaper and Voetbal International magazine.

AFC Ajax forward Klaas Jan Huntelaar, last terms Eredivisie top scorer with 33 goals, received the Johan Cruyff Award for Young Player of the Year while the man whose name adorns that trophy was honoured for his lifetimes achievement.

mmm i dunno... i think it maybe for how he played last season wiuth Feyenoord... Im sure he will win it two years in a row after this seasons performances!

after he play 30++ minutes for liverpool, now u r like he will win the footballer of the year ..
