All Hail The Paper Champs...
2nd time in 2 years Olympiakos loses a game to a better team on the day and uses legal loopholes to navigate its way to a win on appeal.
This time;
- 2nd division Panserriakos beat the reigning Champions 3-1 convincingly.
- EPO rules state lower division clubs must not play more than 5 foreigners in a Greek Cup matchday team.
- Panserriakos brings on a 6th foreigner in injury time, apparantly the coach was unaware and didnt order this change.
- Mind you Olympiakos played 6 foreigners for the majority of the game.
Just goes to show how dodgy the Greek league is. Same competition, you would think same rules for each team, you would imagine same rules would exists to create a level playing field......apparantly not.

Raptors did a similar thing this year in Div 2 but strangely got to keep the points
Don't know how to add the hook and line
Re: All Hail The Paper Champs...
If they both broke the rules they should both be eliminated.
Is the game being replayed?

From what I have read, only one team broke the rules and they were punished rightly for it.Litmanen wrote:If they both broke the rules they should both be eliminated.

Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:
Colossus: One House
Costa: One Lunch
Oh and add in
Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

Agree, although it seems odd that different clubs would have different rules in the same competition.Hawkesy wrote:From what I have read, only one team broke the rules and they were punished rightly for it.

Re: All Hail The Paper Champs...
Interestingly Olympiakos have copped ths one on the chin and are not appealing the result!?!?!
Very unlike them.
Calling it a 'momentary human error' on Panserriakos' part to make the substitution in injury time and infringing.
Probably more a PR move than anything else. Kokkalis knows his and the clubs reputation will go further south than antartica if they pursued this.
Also, the appealing through courts angle which they were so keen on when they robbed AEK of the title in 07/08 isnt as sweet this time without a 20m champions league payday.......

olympiakos is a human error.. a very big error. how they kept their diabled fans from being angry and throwing cabernet at eachother is another story.
moral to the story is olympiakos you are cabernet.
