Our best goalkeeper, and lovely lovely man.

Having him and Shilton both around at the same time, meant neither got as many caps as they could have,

Was revered when I was a kid and even tried to emulate his left foot kicks whenever playing in goals on the school oval. RIP

Would have been well over 150. It was just a statement but in an era when caps weren't chucked around like confetti, each one meant even more.

I remember one tour england did (Under Greenwood), there were 3 games, and Greenwood ddn't know who was better, so they played 1.5 games each.

That said I bet you did your best not to emulate his worst attempt at a save- the miskick from King Kenny that trundled through his legs at Hampden Park in 1976 which helped the Scots to a 2-1 victory. Think YOU would have managed to save that 'daisy-cutter'.
Yet Clemence was a top class 'keeper and in direct competition with another in Shilton for the England number 1 shirt.
He will never be forgotten by the legions of Liverpool fans and this is truly deserved. A great 'keeper and by all accounts a gem of a bloke.
RIP Ray.
