Re: England - 2015-16 Yet Another Year In The Championship :
I am a Luddite because I laughed at you making comments like you making suggestions to FIFA and they're listening to you.
Come on, that's comedy gold.

Re: England - 2015-16 Yet Another Year In The Championship :
It was Jimmy Hill who was the brains behind 3 points for a win, not FIFA. They started using it later.FIFA were quite responsive to my suggestion and if any of you have long memories, it was raised as one of the options in their research before settling for 3 points for a win.

The English were definitely using it long before it was brought into the world cup.
I'm sorry do you have a point or is this just another attempt to take to thread off topic?

If memory serves me right, Norwich once drew a ridiculous amount of games and it got Jimmy thinking.

Re: England - 2015-16 Yet Another Year In The Championship :
It looks like Bournemouth will go up. Is there a minimum stadium size requirement in the Premier League?
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. That's why I succeed." -Michael Jordan

Hopefully their stadium does not meet the requirements, and their Premier League spot is given to the next most deserving recipient - Nottingham Forest.

for me, I like the idea of a new club getting a year up there. Not to mention the issues that club had and nearly not even existing a few years ago. This is Adelaide wrote:why?Ashes Whitewash wrote:I'd love to see Bournemouth in the top flight.

I like small clubs going up. Even if they go straight back down the money they get is good for them to improve off the pitch for years to come.

is that because some clubs pay too much to try and compete?

No, it's because they have the money to compete. Makes it a closed shop, which is why I like teams bucking the trend.
Re: England - 2015-16 Yet Another Year In The Championship :
How have parachute payments worked out for relegated teams in the last two or three years? Surely those clubs bounced straight back up because it's a closed shop.God is an Englishman wrote:No, it's because they have the money to compete. Would love to see the stats but I would think that the vast majority of teams that get promoted are teams that have previously been in the premier league within the last few years and still receiving parachute payments.otto62 wrote:How have parachute payments worked out for relegated teams in the last two or three years? This was originally a League One Topic and one for many years. It's should be retitled to being "Huddersfield's division".
