i agree villarreal is a very strong team .
i was cocky a few weeks ago but now i am not saying anything about the outcome of this match. like PAO THYRA 13 said before " we will just have to wait and see
cant believe game isnt live in australia .
ERT World should show live but........... they cant due to SBS and ESPN having the rights to champs league games in australia
then if ERT isnt aloud to show Panathinaikos then SBS and ESPN should bottle of shiraz show it

With all due respect there are several ties on at the same time. Can't show them all.

yea and i understand that the other games e.g inter v man u and real v liverpool will get more viewers and i respect that.
but i just dont understand why ERT World arn't aloud to show PAO if SBS and ESPN arn't showing them.
If it's any comfort Olympiacos' ueropean match will be on setanta next week (as it stands). This season setanta has been good at advertising Uefa Cup games right up until match day and then not show it (ie this week's Werder Bremen v Ac Milan).
Panathinaikos FC will be without Marcelo Mattos for Wednesday's UEFA Champions League first knockout round visit to Villarreal CF due to a thigh strain.
The Brazilian midfielder was injured during a 2-2 friendly draw against second division Ilysiakos FC last week and will not return until early March. Full-back Loukas Vintra is also a doubt for Wednesday after hurting his calf in training on Friday and he sat out Saturday's 2-1 Greek Super League defeat of Panionios GSS. Defenders Giannis Goumas and Gabriel both returned from injuries for that game, while Christos Melissis was on the bench after recovering from a thigh problem.
Villarreal CF, Manchester United FC and Club Atlético de Madrid will all be without key players for next week's UEFA Champions League first knockout round first-leg ties due to suspensions.
Spanish side Villarreal are the worst hit as Guille Franco's Mathday 6 red card at Celtic FC means he is out of Wednesday's visit of Panathinaikos FC along with Joan Capdevila, who serves the second of a two-game ban. Ariel Ibagaza, meanwhile, is just one booking away from a ban as are Panathinaikos trio Giannis Goumas, Simão and Nikos Spiropoulos.
Jakub Wawrzyniak was "shocked" by the level of interest in football in Greece after joining Panathinaikos FC from Legia Warszawa in January, but is now eager to emulate compatriot Krzysztof Warzycha's success in Athens.
Intense interest
The 25-year-old central defender signed for the UEFA Champions League first knockout round contenders in a €1.5m deal, but nothing could prepare him for the ferment that greeted him when he arrived in the Greek capital. "It is amazing," he told uefa.com. "It is nothing like Poland. There are about ten football newspapers, some of them just about Panathinaikos. In Poland, there is only one big sports daily, so you can see the difference."
Easily led
The 15-cap international had never played outside the Ekstraklasa until this winter but took little persuading to move to Panathinaikos. "It was a big opportunity for me so I did not hesitate," he said. "It took half an hour to make up my mind. I was happy at Legia but everybody knows Panathinaikos are a much bigger and more famous club."
Useful contact
Wawrzyniak's capture stirred up memories of Warzycha, who scored 273 goals for the Greens after his transfer from Ruch Chorzów in 1990, and the two Poles spoke before the younger man confirmed his own switch to Greece. "I don't want to go into details but I spoke to Warzycha about Panathinaikos," said Wawrzyniak. "He helped me at the beginning as he has lived here many years and everybody knows him."
High aims
Katowice-born Warzycha won five Greek titles and five Greek Cups with Panathinaikos, a record Wawrzyniak can only dream of emulating. "I am really keen to achieve success in Athens," he said. "Of course, it might not be possible to be as successful as Krzysztof Warzycha. He is a legend at Panathinaikos, but I would like to leave good impression at least."
Friendly rivals
In landing at Panathinaikos, Wawrzyniak squares up to international team-mate Michał Żewłakow, a star man for Olympiacos CFP who lead Pana by 14 points at the top of the Super League. "We live close to one other so get to chat a bit," said Wawrzyniak. "Michał told me he would like to celebrate winning the title after our game with Olympiacos in two weeks' time [1 March]. Of course, I am going to ruin his plans."

finished 1-1 in Spain with a wonder goal from Karagounis - Spaniards made it 1-1 with a penalty that should have been called before the penalty occured.
Villareal is awesome though, no wonder they are 4th in Spain - Will be hard even in Athens
Ellas Evropi Panathinaikos gamiete to limani kai o Olympiakos
1-1 is a very good scoreline going into second leg in Athens.
IMO it should have been a 2-0 win for us.
#1- first half - keeper catches the ball in the goals (u can clearly see the whole ball over the line
#2 - second half - Jakub Wawrzyniak was pushed which resulted in a penalty which resulted into a goal
but match is over now and we cant do anything about the outcome of the game .
hopefully we can do well in athens and advance to the quarter finals
Sorry are you attempting to prove this was a goal ? If that is as far as the ball goes then sorry it does not prove it in this picture, I used some editing software to draw a line from the back of the goal line on the ground at exactly the same angle as the goalpost, it shows quite clearly that the whole of the ball has not crossed the whole of the line...
the whole ball has crossed the line .
i saw the replay of it just when it happened it was a goal and we got screw.
even the commentator said it was a goal

As I said, from those photos it is not a goal, if you have another image actually showing the ball over the line then I shall be happy to have a look at it.
Another good result for the Greek Green Machine in Europe. A very creditable draw in Spain (should have won though) to follow up excellent wins in Germany & Milan.
It doesnt really matter if the ball was over the line or not, If we were going to debate about a decision i think the penalty decision should be because Jacub was pushed before bringing down Pires. The game is over and the score was 1-1 a great results for us. And the bottom line is the Gavroi can only dream of what we continously do in Europe.
