That's the lineup Orlandi the chardonnay should have been playing since day 1. All his very poor decisions killed it for us. He better do his job this game and get us the 3 points. Aronica il mercenario

Forza Reggina!

Yeah, he was quality for us. Worked very well alongside Cirillo & Lanzaro.

Napoli are top of the Serie A standings for the first time in 17 years and welcome bottom of the table Reggina.

Considering the fixture list, they could be sole leaders by Wednesday night.

The San Paolo will be packed for what is hardly a prestige match, but one that celebrates the return of this once great club to its proper position. Back-to-back victories over Juventus and Lazio propelled them to the joint leadership along with Inter and Udinese. The last time Napoli were in this position past the opening weekend was 1991-92, when their ranks included Gianfranco Zola, Ciro Ferrara, Antonio Careca and Laurent Blanc.

It is entirely possible the southerners could be up there on their own by the end of the 90 minutes, as Inter face a tricky trip to Florence and Udinese visit a Catania side that has won all its games at the Stadio Massimino.

Reggina may have won their first match at the weekend, but they are still propping up the table with five points from eight games. The odds of them causing an upset here are rather slim, as the Amaranto have lost all four of their away matches by scoring once and conceding nine, while Napoli have a 100 per cent record at the San Paolo, including the UEFA Cup and Intertoto ties.

The Calabrians welcome back goalkeeper Andrea Campagnolo from a ban, but lose Bruno Cirillo to suspension, while Santos, Emanuele Cascione, Emil Hallfredsson and Giosa are injured. Bernardo Corradi’s brace of penalties against Lecce means he has scored four goals – two thirds of Reggina’s total haul. He was surprisingly dropped for the 3-0 loss at Fiorentina in Week 7, but Coach Nevio Orlandi now admits: “Corradi has certain characteristics and we have to make the most of them.”

Napoli’s attacking play rests mainly on the pace of Ezequiel Lavezzi and push from Marek Hamsik and Christian Maggio. Manuele Blasi is suspended, so Michele Pazienza steps into central midfield, while Navarro replaces the injured Gennaro Iezzo. Paolo Cannavaro is again ruled out through a fitness problem, so former Reggina man Salvatore Aronica prepares to face his old club.

The history books are not all doom and gloom for Reggina, as they were unlucky not to win here last season, Lavezzi grabbing a stoppage-time equaliser after Campagnolo had saved a penalty. However, the only other Serie A visit to the San Paolo saw them thrashed 6-2 in December 2000.

Keep an eye on: Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli) – The pace of ‘Thunderbolt’ is Napoli’s greatest threat and, considering the sluggish defensive displays so far this season, he could run riot in the Reggina rearguard.

The biggest amount of goals conceded by Reggina in a single Serie A fixture is six. It has happened twice, once against Napoli (6-2 in 2000).
The Serie A record between these two teams is pretty even (one home win to each team and two draws), and both teams have always scored at least one goal.
Reggina have lost all four away games played this season in Serie A.
Napoli are unbeaten in the last eight Serie A home fixtures. They have seven wins and a draw at the San Paolo this season.
Reggina are the only team to have scored all their goals without any assist this season.

Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik insists he is completely focused on tonight's test against Reggina, despite a trip to Milan looming on the horizon.

It has been a wonderful start to the season for the Partenopei, who are on top of the pile along with Inter and Udinese.

This weekend sees a mouth-watering clash between Napoli and Milan at San Siro, but first the Vesuviani must negotiate lowly Reggina.

“At the moment there's Reggina and nothing else in my mind,” Hamsik stressed.

“This will be a tough and very important game, but every game in Italy is difficult.

“Each test is different from the last, but they are always at high intensity and they pose their own unique challenges.

“The Reggina game is worth the same as Milan and we must play to win, taking one game at a time.

“We always fight hard and we deserve the top spot for the way we have performed so far,” he concluded.
