Serie A round 15

Post by Juventino »

At half time -

Empoli 2 - 0 Cagliari
Genoa 0 - 3 Siena
Inter 1 - 0 Torino
Juventus 0 - 0 Atalanta
Livorno 1 - 1 Roma
Udinese 1 - 2 Sampdoria
Napoli ? - ? Parma

- That was quite a frustrating first half. We played well but the ball just didn't go in. There were plenty of chances, mainly in the opening half hour but nothing went in and we must make sure we are more clinical in the second half. Atalanta are looking dangerous when they go forward with Doni and Floccari. I didn't like how we played so many balls in the air and to Iaquinta and Trezeguet's heads. Atalanta dealt with them fairly comfortably, so I want to see more along the ground. we need Nocerino building up the game from the middle. Evrybody for us played well excpet Iaquinta who hasn't really gotten into the game and Palladino. perhaps Salihamidzic should come on.

- Empoli scored two goals early and are crusing against Cagliari. Young gun Nicola Pozzi scored twice in the opening ten minutes.

- Genoa have capitulated against Siena. On two occasions they defence was caught out and they both resulted in Frick scoring. Genoa truly are in a crisis.

- Their crosstown rivals Sampdoria lead thanks to some Cassano brilliance. He won a penalty which cancelled out Di Natale's opener before setting up Maggio with a touch of magic.

- Inter lead through an Ibrahimovic penalty. It looked as if the decision may have gone either way. The ball looked to have been won, but from an awkward angle, it probably was from behind, taking some legs out as well.

- Roma scored early with a De Rossi header from a corner which Amelia only half heartedly attempted to clear but hit back moments later with a dazzling run by Diego Tristan.

Empoli 4 - 1 Cagliari
Genoa 1 - 3 Siena
Inter 4 - 0 Torino
Juventus 1 - 0 Atalanta
Livorno 1 - 1 Roma
Udinese 3 - 2 Sampdoria
Napoli ? - ? Parma

- Well, the win came late but it was one of those games that we deserved to win, but you didn't know if it would eventually come. Nedved with a cracking goal. Juve did change it up in the second half and play the ball to feet which was good to see. Del Piero was fantastic in the 45 minutes he played. There was one nervous moment in the 89th minute as Pellegrino found himself free at the back post but he hit it wide of Buffon's goal. All in all a good result against a difficult opponent.

- Nicola Pozzi scored all four goals against Cagliair who scored a consilation through Daniele Conti. Pozzi has been showing signs of promise this season and here is a clear statement of his potential.

- Inter did it easy and were helped by a three minute spell early in the second half where two goals were scored and any hopes of a Toro comback were quickly eroded. Cruz, Jiminez and Cordoba scored in the second half.

- Genoa pulled one back through Figueroa, but that is an extremely disappointing loss for them.

- And speaking of disappointing, Roma went back to their old ways of dropping points against the smaller sides in a repeat scoreline of the fixture at the stadio Armando Picchi from last season. Inter now pull away.

- Fabio Quagliarella scored a second half double, a diving header and screamer from outside the box, to give Udinese the win. Three crucial points in what would have been a great match to watch it seems.

Not a convincing display today, although as you said, we did dominate and deserved the victory.

Just when a draw seemed inevitable, the Legend himself Pavel Nedved, in his 300th Serie A match, comes up with a magnificent goal, worthy of winning any game !!!!

Congratulations Nedved on the milestone and the goal.

FORZA JUVE !!!!!

I was off my feet when Pavel scored, had hoped but it just seemed like it would end in a draw, as Coppola had agreat game in goal for Atalanta.
Bravo Pavel brilliant goal.

Napoli 1 - 0 Parma
Zalayeta 18 (N)
Stadio San Paolo

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A magnificent Marcelo Zalayeta goal gave Napoli their first victory since October, sending Parma to a slender 1-0 defeat.

Edy Reja's men were desperate to halt their slide after a humiliating 5-1 defeat at Atalanta. They had just one win since beating Juventus in October and Maurizio Domizzi sat out a ban, but Marek Hamsik was dropped. Parma have improved of late with a 4-4-2 system, but had Luca Cigarini and Paolo Castellini sidelined.

Napoli last won this fixture in January 1997, followed by a 4-0 drubbing and a 2-2 draw in their last meeting in December 2000. McDonald Mariga's free header on a set-piece was wide of the near post after just three minutes, but at the other end Ezequiel Lavezzi slalomed between four defenders to cut in for Marcelo Zalayeta, who horribly scuffed the shot.

Another Lavezzi solo effort was charged down, but he was booked for kicking the corner flag over in frustration and will be suspended for the clash with Siena.

Napoli opened the scoring with an absolutely brilliant goal. Lavezzi's backheel started the move and Mariano Bogliacino's chip was spectacularly volleyed in by fellow Uruguayan Zalayeta's right foot.

Gennaro Iezzo put his foot down awkwardly and seemed to sprain his ankle on the turf, but was able to continue after treatment.

Reginaldo tried to lead Parma's timid fightback, but rarely managed to trouble the Napoli defence.

Reginaldo really should have equalised in first half stoppages. Andrea Pisanu got down to the byeline brilliantly and cut a low ball across the face of goal, but both Bernardo Corradi and Reginaldo failed to tap in from six yards.

Napoli put together another impressive team move with Lavezzi and Zalayeta before Walter Gargano blasted the finish wide from the edge of the box.

Daniele Dessena's volley at the back post was poor and Mariga smacked a fierce strike over the bar from distance. Domenico Morfeo replaced Dessena to give the Gialloblu more creativity.

Napoli somehow failed to score a second goal after some truly desperate defending on 66 minutes! Zalayeta drew Luca Bucci out of his box and rolled across for Lavezzi, but Giulio Falcone was ready for a decisive goalline clearance. The move continued and Bogliacino failed to net from six yards.

Massimo Paci found space and drilled a screamer over from 30 metres, while a Corradi turn was deflected just past the near post.

In a nice gesture, after the final whistle both teams stood on the pitch to shake hands and applaud the fans before walking down the tunnel.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Napoli: Iezzo; Cupi, P Cannavaro, Contini; Grava, Blasi, Gargano (Hamsik 84), Bogliacino, Savini; Lavezzi (Calaio' 75), Zalayeta (Sosa 89)

Parma: Bucci; Coly, Falcone, Paci, Zenoni (Paponi 84); Mariga, Parravicini, Dessena (Morfeo 61); Reginaldo (Matteini 72), Pisanu; Corradi

The season is all over. I seriously cannot see Inter losing any more matches this season. All I can hope for is for Ibrahimovic to get injured cause then inter would be screwed
