France coach Raymond Domenech reflected on his side's 1-1 draw with Ukraine, proclaiming that it was an example of France's deserved form that's seen them qualify for Euro 2008...
Raymond Domenech framed France's 2-2 draw in Kiev as a prime example of why France deserve to have qualified for Euro 2008.
The Group B runners-up came back from 1-0 down to take the lead against Ukraine before a Frey goalkeeping error gave the hosts parity once more.
In any case, the result was irrelevant for both sides as France's qualification had already been assured by group winners Italy's victory over Scotland on Saturday.
Still, Domenech understandably chose to focus on his own side's merits.
"We wanted to show everybody that we did not need anyone's help to qualify," he smirked to TF1.
"We would have needed a draw [had Italy not beaten Scotland at the weekend] and we were able to get it.
"We suffered at times but it was an interesting match."
Indeed, Domenech praised the hosts for their ambition, saying, "It was not an easy match against a strong team who put us under pressure."
