Boumsong staying at Juve
Jean-Alain Boumsong has stated that he is set to extend his time with Juventus. “I am 99 per cent sure that I will stay here.â€
The Frenchman has been paired with a summer move as he is not considered part of new Coach Claudio Ranieri’s plans, but has refused all proposals to leave Turin so far.
“I am 99 per cent sure that I will stay here,†said Boumsong in an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe following a reported loan offer from Ligue 1 champions Lyon.
“I am not afraid of competing for a spot in the starting line-up,†added the former Newcastle United player.
The France international is also a target for Besiktas, Bordeaux and Valencia, but denies that he has had any firm proposals to change club.
“I have not received any offer from Lyon or anyone else. However, if I were to be contacted by a club as important as Juventus I would be ready to consider a transfer,†he finished.
Boumsong arrived in Italy in 2006 to sign for relegated Juve and has had a difficult relationship with the fans because of a shaky start to his career in the peninsula.
“One never stops learning. I need to do better physically and perhaps in terms of concentration,†he admitted to the Press at the Old Lady’s training complex.
I have to find the right tactical unity with my new teammates, but that is true of everyone at the moment,†said Boumsong.
