They never really showed any fight in any of their games, even when they were down they appeared to be just going through the motions.
I think that because they didn't lose any of their Qualification matches that they were going to walk through this competition.
I don't envy the next England coach's chances of finding players who are prepared to put it all on the line, like the other countries players are doing, particularly Iceland.
Humiliating, thank heavens I am an Australian citizen (40 years) and have no connections to England any more.
What does your passport say for place of birth?
I no longer have a passport as I didn't renew it when it ran out a few years ago.
well...it seems the English also agree with me....Shearer...
He is still calling it the worst England performance he's ever seen and the country's greatest footballing humiliation - in fact he no longer considers the Three Lions to be in the 'big football nations' bracket after the loss.

Hard to disagree at the moment, but I still think that, with a decent manager this playing group (minus a few and plus a few others) would be very competitive. Hodgson was a disaster waiting to happen, nice guy but no real vision of how to play, just randomly plucking names out of a hat.

It was the worst performance, absolutely no doubt.

Spewing at the result, and would have liked to get at least to the semis, but cabernet happens.
At least we went further than Spain, England, Croatia and Faroe Islands.

Spain will recover, they still have great players and plenty of good ones coming through. They need to get rid of Del Bosque.
Brazil has major problems with their government, economy and administration, their decline in football seems to be a long term trend.
England shouldnt even be discussed in the same paragraph

The England players should watch this time and time again, see what playing with pride can get you.
Coleman has shown Hodgson what organisation and system really is.
Well done Wales , now we have Bale v Ronaldo.
The pride thing is utter bollocks. Stevie Gerrard said this the other day and he is spot on.
"When England went behind, many of those players will have been thinking of the consequences of defeat as much as what to do to get back in the game.
I hate to say it, but your mind drifts to what the coverage is going to be like back home and the level of criticism you are going to get. You cannot stop yourself. “What if we don’t get back into this? What will it be like if we go out here?”
Panic sets in. The frustration takes over. You freeze and stop doing those things you know you should be. You start forcing the game, making the wrong choices with your passes, shooting from the wrong areas and letting the anxiety prevent you from doing the simple things.
Everything you said and prepared for before the game gets forgotten."
based on the follow stats and anything else you may want to bring up, do you still disagree with my assertion that England cant be referred to as a 'footballing power'?
Chris Coleman's side have won as many knockout games at an international tournament (2) as England have in the past 20 years.
Wales beat Northern Ireland and Belgium in the past week, while in the past 20 years, England beat Denmark in the last-16 of the 2002 World Cup, and Ecuador at the same stage of the 2006 World Cup.

Even if Wales win it. England are still a bigger footballing nation. The fact of the matter is that Wales are a tinpot team filled with championship players punching well above their weight. They have a collective spirit similar to a league one team in the FA Cup against EPL teams. Players like Vokes and Kanu doing brilliantly for them but still bog average players.
