Sunday Premier Write Up Round 15

Post by Ossie »

INGLE Farm took another step towards the League title with a hard fought 2-1 win over Salisbury Inter at Underdown Park.

Farm travelled to play Inter for the 2nd week in a row having bundled Inter out of the Challenge Cup 2-0 last week.

The league leaders wasted no time taking the lead when on three minutes a quality pass from Jarred Noel set up Kaelan Tyson who coolly slotted his chance.

Inter keeper Josh Foreshaw needed to be at his best on nine minutes when he tipped a Dean Kendrick header over the bar while at the other end Inter captain Michael Marchioro headed just wide on 13 minutes.

The home team should have equalised on 24 minutes when Colin Griffiths skied a shot over the bar and they were made to pay on 27 minutes when Tyson took advantage of a defensive slip to make it 2-0.

Ten minutes after the break Inter’s task was made harder when Marchiorio was sent off but to their credit they fought on and went close to scoring on 57 minutes when a header from a cross hit the post.

Farm were reduced to ten men on 63 minutes when James Parker got a 2nd yellow but the game could have been sealed when Noel had two one on one opportunities only to be denied by Foreshaw.

The game was alive on 80 minutes when Inter were awarded a penalty that Chris Fleming converted but try as they might Inter couldn’t get an equaliser.

Farm’s sixth win in a row keeps them five points clear of the 2nd placed Downs while Inter have now lost seven of their last eight games in the league.

Farm coach Paul Simpson “It was a good win, we were cruising at 2-0 and then we had to fight it out but we are happy to get the points and move onto next week against the Downs.

A BILLY Allotey first half hat trick helped Elizabeth Downs to a convincing 7-2 win over local rival Elizabeth Vale at Argana Park.

Both teams came into the game in good form with the Vale having won two in a row while the Maroons were looking to build on a run of six wins on the trot.

The Vale got off to the perfect start on ten minutes to take a shock lead but that was erased on 18 minutes when Allotey scored his first.

Allotey was then in the right spot again on 25 and 32 minutes to find the back of the net and when Sam Watson headed home at the back post the home team went to the break leading 4-1.

After the break the Vale reduced the gap before Watson netted his 2nd goal, substitute Ben McMullen made it 6-2 and defender Damien Dalglish wrapped up the scoring.

Downs coach Steve Hughes “It was important to win today and now we turn our attention to Ingle Farm next week.”

TWO wonder strikes from Chad Bugeja have helped Brahma Lodge to a 3-0 win over Tea Tree Gully at Tilley Reserve.

Gully came into the game on the back of two wins while Brahma knew only a win could keep their slim league hopes alive.

Brahma took the lead on 35 minutes when a Chad Bugeja shot from 25 yards found the top corner.

On the hour the lead was doubled through another Bugeja long distance effort this time from a free kick.

The win was rounded off with another cracking goal with Dillon Centrone chipping the keeper from a 35 yard free kick.

Lodge coach Freddy Agius “I thought we controlled the game and deserved our win.”
Gully coach Mat Flounders “I thought the boys played well but Brahma punished any mistakes we made.”

PARA Hills West retuned to winning ways with a convincing 3-0 win over Para Hills East at Manor Farm Ground.

Both teams came into the game looking to end two game losing streaks and it was Westies who opened the scoring on 20 minutes when they broke on the counter and Tom Foglia finished.

The home team went 2-0 up on 35 minutes through some Foglia brilliance when he showed skill to move the ball and fire it home to the delight of the West faithful.

Ten minutes into the 2nd half the game was over when a Brodie Bampton free kick was headed home by striker Kurtis Cracknell.

Westies coach Michael Iacovino “Its good to get back on the winners list. To be fair they were dangerous early on and our keeper David Brook had to be at his best.”

PARAFIELD Gardens came from behind to run out 2-1 winners over Salisbury Florina at Bradman Oval.

Florina travelled to Gardens looking to build on a woeful away record that has seen them take only one point this season while Gardens were looking for their 1st win in the league since mid July.

The bottom placed Florina took a shock lead through Jason Trimboli but their lead was erased soon after when Callum Ebert arrived at the back post to tap the ball home.

On the hour Gardens took the lead when Declan Williams lobbed the keeper to make it 2-1.

Gardens could have sealed the game on 85 minutes from the penalty spot but when Alban Martini missed Florina pushed for an equaliser that didn’t come.

Gardens coach John McCormack “It was a really tight game today which could have gone either way but thankfully today we put the ball away.”
