Sunday Premier Round 8 Write Up

Post by Ossie »

A DOMINANT 2nd half display saw Para Hills West over run a disappointing Salisbury Inter 6-0 at Manor Farm Ground.

2nd placed Inter came into the game looking to bridge the six-point gap behind league leading Ingle Farm while the 5th placed Westies were looking to consolidate their place in the top half of the league.

Westies wasted no time taking the lead when on four minutes a Lewis Marzocco corner was superbly headed home by Luke Air.
On 16 minutes Inter came close when a Jimmy Greaves cross found Michael Marchioro but his header was straight at West keeper David Brook.

Inter started the 2nd half with purpose as Greaves had an effort tipped over the bar on 55 minutes and two minutes later Brook did well to deny a Nathan Pettit effort from close range.

The home side doubled their lead on 67 minutes when a fine diagonal ball into the box found Marzocca who beat the outcoming Josh Foreshaw before rolling the ball into the empty net.
Three minutes later the game was all but over when Marzocca played a ball into the box and substitute Jackson Otoli out fought the Inter defence to poke the ball home.

The wheels fell off for the visitors who were soon down to nine players before Tom Foglia made it 4-0 from the penalty spot.
Foglia finished the game in style with 85th minute and 90th goals to complete a personal hat trick and round off a comprehensive win.

Westies coach Michael Iacovino “I’m on cloud nine tonight, I don’t recall us beating Inter too often. We were keen for a big scalp and we got that today so credit to the boys.”

Ingle Farm dropped their first points of the campaign in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Parafield Gardens at Walkleys Park.

Farm came into the game looking for an eighth successive win which had seen them build a six point lead at the top while Gardens travelled looking for their first win on the road having taken only one point from their three away games.

On 20 minutes Farm took the lead through a Musti Ipekdal tap in before Gardens Alban Martini fired home from 20 yards as the teams went to the break at 1-1.

Gardens took the lead through Declan Williams before Jarred Noel equalized on 70 minutes with a pile driver from distance.

The visiting Gardens regained the lead when Scott Widenbach headed home a Martini corner but as good teams do Farm refused to buckle and on 84 minutes a Caylan Tyson shot deflected into the top corner.

Farm coach Paul Simpson “Both teams created a lot of opportunities today. The boys really dug in and got something from the game which was pleasing.”

Gardens coach John McCormack “In the end it felt like we lost two points but we have a really young squad so we will learn from this.”

A 2nd half Chad Bugeja hat trick helped Brahma Lodge to a 4-0 win over Elizabeth Vale at Moflin Road.

The teams went to the halftime break locked at 0-0 in what had been a very even affair.

On the hour Lodge brought on substitute Chad Bugeja and ten minutes later he made his mark when he got on the end of a ball over the top before slotting it home.
Soon after Bugeja worked some magic curling a shot into the far corner to make it 2-0.

Robbie McDonald sealed the win before Bugeja capped off a fine display with a hat trick to the delight of the visiting support.

Brahma Coach Freddy Aguis “It was a tight game but once we got the goal it opened up a bit.”

Vale coach Tim Crawford “I was proud of the boys today. Unfortunately we aren’t getting the rub of the green at the moment.”

ELIZABETH Downs returned to winning ways in the league with a comprehensive 6-1 win over bottom of the table Para Hills East at Para Hills Oval.

The Maroons got off to a good start on 15 minutes when captain Scott Lindsay rifled home a left footed strike from 25 yards.
Luke Lawley doubled the lead when he cut in from the left before coolly finishing and when Sean Brennan followed up a Mat Watson shot to tuck the ball home the visitors took a 3-0 lead to the break.

It was more of the same after the break with a brace from Billy Allotey and a goal for Tommy Blackett.

Downs coach Steve Hughes “It was a pleasing win and we really look forward to next week’s game against Para Hills West.”

JASON Trimboli has returned to Salisbury Florina with a bang scoring both goals in Florina’s 2-0 win over Tea Tree Gully at Underdown Park.

Gully travelled knowing that a win would leap frog them over the 7th placed Florina and out of the relegation zone while Florina were looking to build on some solid home form.

The teams were deadlocked at the break but on 65 minutes some Trimboli class opened the scoring when he beat two Gully defenders before slotting his chance.
Ten minutes later the result was sealed when Trimboli thumped home a 25-yard screamer to break Gully hearts.

Florina coach Jeff McCormack “It’s a vital three points. Credit to Gully they are a good side and played well.”
