Sunday Premier Divison Round 7 Write Up

Post by Ossie »

Match of the Day

INGLE Farm have stamped themselves as Championship favourites after a thrilling 3-2 win over Elizabeth Downs at Argana Park.

Top of the table Farm travelled to Argana park looking to keep their 100% winning run which has been built on a defensive record that has seen them concede only one goal in six matches while the 2nd placed Downs were looking to reduce Farms five-point lead at the top.

On eight minutes Matt Watson pounced on a short back pass but shot straight at the goalie Michael Catford when through one on one.
Scott Lindsay came close to the opener on 36 minutes when his dipping free kick was tapped over the bar as the teams went to the break locked at 0-0.

The Maroons took the lead on 59 minutes when a barn storming Billy Allotey run down the right finished with a cut back to Sean Brennan who fired home.
Farm were hanging on and Catford did well to deny the home team on 64 minutes after Mark Kelly played in Allotey but his goal bound effort was well saved.

One minute later Ingle Farm were level after Musti Ipekdal was fouled and he duly slotted the penalty in front of the Downs faithful.
The game was now being played at break neck speed and the Downs regained the lead on 71 minutes when an inch perfect Brayden Gundlach cross was superbly headed home by Allotey.

With 15 minutes left on the clock Downs substitute Tommy Blackett rattled the cross bar and four minutes later Farm were again level when Stefan Barletta picked the ball up on the left before moving on to his right foot and scoring with a low hard effort.

The drama was complete on 84 minutes when Sonny Murrell crossed to Caylan Tyson who steadied before picking his spot to the cheers of the travelling Farm support.

Farm Coach Paul Simpson “For the boys to come from behind twice and win just shows the spirit we have amongst the group this year.”

SALISBURY Inter moved back into 2nd spot on the table after a convincing 4-0 win over Para Hills East at Underdown Park.

Inter were looking to hit back after a 2-0 loss to pace setting Ingle Farm in round 6 and on 20 minutes a Matt Centrone free kick was deflected into the net.

The lead was doubled on the half hour when a Jimmy Greaves run finished with a rifle shot that hit the cross bar before hitting an Easties defender and rolling into the net.
Greaves was at it again on 50 minutes when he broke at pace before setting up Chris Fleming who scored from close range.

On 65 minutes the game was sealed when a Centrone freekick fell into a crowded box and Nathan Pettit was on hand to find the net.
Inter coach Steve Cook “It was a very polished performance today from the boys.”

BRAHMA Lodge have fallen seven points behind Ingle Farm after a 1-1 draw with Salisbury Florina at Cockburn Green.

Florina came into the game on the back of an impressive 3-3 draw with Parafield Gardens and on the hour they took the lead when Johnny Papandrea turned and fired the ball into the top right-hand corner.

Brahma salvaged a point on 75 minutes when Michael Mullen stabbed the ball home after a goal mouth scramble.

Florina coach Jeff McCormack was delighted “We played extremely well against good opposition and deserved a point from the game.”

FOUR goals in 20 minutes helped Para Hills West return to winning ways as they ran out 4-1 winners over Tea Tree Gully at Tilley Reserve.

Luke Air opened the scoring for the visiting Westies when he poked the ball home from close range.
Matt Pilcher doubled the lead soon after with a sweetly hit volley before Tom Foglia netted twice to put the game out of reach of the relegation threatened Gully.
Gullies Jack Williams found the net for the home team.

Westies coach Michael Iacovino “I’m delighted with the win, the 1st half is the best football we’ve played this season.”

GOALS in either half helped Parafield Gardens see off Elizabeth Vale 2-0 at Bradman Oval.

Callum Ebert opened the scoring for the home team on 20 minutes with a crisp left footed strike into the top right-hand corner.
The decisive 2nd goal came early after the break when an Ebert flicked on header played in Gabi Beron one on one with the keeper before he steadied and slotted the goal.

yes they did - well done to them - just further strengthens the team and increases pressure to get and keep a spot in the senior team
