Westies frustrated early which meant they went down to 10 early in the first. Was a pity it went that way as they were looking good up til that point. Too long to play with 10 against the top side.
In my time at Anfield we always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside - Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.

agreed. top game. both teams committed to attack. no diving, shirt pulling or playing keepball in their own half. just pure entertainment. :)

Pontian Eagles ( 2 ) Southern Knights ( 1 )
Knights up 0-1 early but had to play with 10 men for ~70 minutes ... still scratching my head as to why, changed the balance and tone of the game.
Pontian very strong on the counter especially with the spare man.

there was alot of head scratching .... call was the last minute of the ressies game

Assistant Referee flags for offside... ref waves it away .. ref awards the penalty ... ref then speaks to assistant referee and awards offside ...

At least in this instance the correct call was made in the end, assuming it was offside?

As I wasn't there I'm assuming he was referring to the linesman flagging for offside, either the ref thought it wasn't offside or thought he was flagging for something else hence the head scratching. Nobody has stated whether the final call of offside was correct or not so I assumed he was offside :?:

Definitely off side in the reserves for the last minute decision ,
Pontians a good unit , ref spoiled the game , spent most of the day talking to the crowd and himself , terrible red card decision , first red card the boy has ever had .not a dirty player by any means ,mistimed tackle and no more , yellow at best .
A bit of niggle in the game and banter from the crowd as expected from this one , ref couldn't handle it , sent 3 of our supporters off including swannsong , ( he is an animal !! ),
sent off Lingy , that's ok!!, hehehehehe
then sent off ...the guy in the hat , he didn't know which guy in the hat , maybe it was the cat in the hat , stop ,start , stop ,start , paying too much attention to the crowd and not the game ,
so in summary 4 send offs including 1 player , I think 6 yellows for us and 2 yellows for them?, very busy day for the ref and very lob sided on the card count , not that much in it really .
, I suggested he take up amateur theatre on a Sunday if he wants to be the centre of attention ..... surprised he didn't send me off ?, and no I was not wearing a hat , SHOCKER !!

I was seated 5 metres from the touchline on the opposite side of the ground to everyone else (bar 1 other spectator in a deck chair) taking photographs, not acting in any official role on the day.
I said something like "How many times are you going to get things so wrong ?" ... no swearing, no threatening, just a comment (and not wearing a hat).
I think there were much heavily worded comments coming from the ~100 people on the opposite side of the ground.
Referee, came across to me and said I want you to move off the ground or I will not continue the game.... so in essence, he threatened me !
I obliged, moved back another 15 metres onto another pitch and took photos from there.
Apparently it was similar for two other supporters on the other side of the ground.
