SAASL and Collegiate

Post by htfac »

I wonder if some of those clubs that left SAASL to join the Collegiate League would be interested in moving back now that the SAASL has re-affiliated? Dont know what influenced the moves in the first instance.
I've never watched a game of Collegiate league so have no idea of the difference? Nor do I have any idea of the administration and costs with the Collegiate league?
Also would the top SAASL old Scholars type team be interested in playing the top Collegiate team for bragging rights? For example BOSA vs Rostrevor? Make an interest pre-season "trial" game?

Or you could play the two current Saturday Champion teams against each other - Sturt Marion ( SAASL Div 1 Sat. ) Champions vs Rostrevor ( Div 1 Collegiate ) Champions

For the right to play the Sunday Div 1 Champions for the Chich Shield? Why not!

Why should the sunday side get the automatic route to the "final"?

When was the last time a sunday div 1 side beat a collegiate league side?

Plus, real football is for saturdays. Kick around/pub league is Sundays.

Why not? :D Don't have another Sunday competition to play against for starters.

Point 1 - precisely, so why should they get a hand up

Point 2 - I'm from England, that's how it works. We invented the game, so we make the rules. Sunday games even kick off at 10:30am so you have time to get in the pub for a Sunday lunchtime session. Normally for the pub that you are playing for. Good times playing for the Foresters Arms. I remember scoring the winner against both Bayham Munich and Crystal Palace.

I find myself agreeing with GIAE ...
Saturday is proper football day and Sunday is for the pub teams / spuds ;)
How about Saturday is Collegiate Day and Sunday is SAASL day.

To answer the original question.. I don't think any / many Collegiate teams would move back to the SAASL as there is even less reason to now.....Be good if they could work in tandem to a degree to ensure all leagues had the numbers and depth to provide a full seasons competition without buys, no B teams etc...
