Most successful coaches

Post by geezer »

Maybe one for you to research Swannsong, but Motts would have to be around the mark one would think.

Motts would be up there for sure would like to know official stats. Motts would have coached 5 league championships (guess) + Cups etc, Cooky has a good record but Haywood I think you have the right club but wrong coach I would say Gerry Pettit would be just have them both! Would be interesting to see the official stats!

I think my Brother has been researching this topic...
But Motts is probably at the top with 5 Sunday Division One/Premier Division titles and a few (4 or 5 ) runners up as well...
I still remember him as a junior kicking the ball onto the nets behind the goals when I was playing...and remember his debut in the Downs Seniors as a 15 year old.

Rick Cerrachio won both Saturday and Sunday div one and was also successful at federation level after coaching amateurs.

This is for Sunday Div 1 only.
Alan Mottram 2006 2007 2012 2014 2017 R-Up 2004 2013 2016 (all at the Downs)
Gerry Pettit 1986 (TTG) 1988 1989 1990 2001 (Inter) R-Up 1987?? 1992 2000 (Inter)
Bobby Anderson 1966 1968 1969 1970 1971 R-Up 1965 1967?? all at APAC
Keith Ryan 1992 1993 2003 R-Up ?? all at Para Hills East
Jimmy Campbell 1981 1982 1984 R-Up ?? all at Inter
Then Steve Cook, Geoff Armstrong, Earl Pudler, Bobby Orr and Frank Geiser with 2 each. Not sure of R-Ups with them.

Havent looked into the number of cups won be each coach at this point in time.

I will stand corrected on any of this.

Ah, memories .....

1975 Parafield Coach was George Hanstock

1978 Because Inter and Parafield were joint winners, Madison Park 21 (Larry Craker) were Runners-up

1983 Tea Tree Gully Coach was Larry Craker (not Len)

Cheers

Can you remember who coached the Vale in 2011? Also any idea for 1993 1991 1989 1977?
Maybe on the clubs Honour board (photo)?
