Cup Final Results 2016

Post by Splodgenessabounds »

O/35's: Para Hills West 5 Salisbury Inter 3

Inter keeper sent off and a penalty saw West take the lead for the first time but the foul was actually outside the box. Mind you I thought there was a handball in the lead up to Inter's third goal so I guess it balanced itself out.

Watched today's game and inter really couldn't get there passing game together and didn't retain possession at all. Brahma definitely were up for it with constant pressure and took there chances clinically.

It was a massive surprise to see who the centre referee was today, SAASL has some good refs and for the single biggest game of the year the one picked certainly wasn't the best by far that I have seen.

Always see more cards during his games than there needs to be and leads to games getting out of hand!

Referees cop back chat at all levels, the best refs know there is a limit and let the small stuff go. This leads to a better flowing game with less stop start and chances for players to get into scuffles with a constant stop start style of referring players and fans get frustrated and lead to much worse happening on AND off the field

Give an inch and players start to take a mile and then whinge about the referee being inconsistent.

As a player involved with the winning side today, I will say that the backchat starts simply because of the incompetence of the referee in charge today. Baffling decision after another. One week this guy can't brandish cards out quick enough and today he let 4-5 late nasty tackles go by the wayside. There is no consistency with him. Absolutely zero. As players all you want is consistency and with the ref today, you never know what you are going to get. Two bookings he made in the first half (excluding the one the 4th official had to point out to him) and both were for dissent, with reckless challenges flying in from both sides. Absolute Joke. I enjoy amateurs, but as a player who has played both Feds and Amateurs, the difference in refereeing standards is about as wide as the Grand Canyon.

Congratulations Brahma. Perfect season. Thoroughly deserved.

Was hoping for another couple of minutes in the reserves to see if we could find an equaliser but wasn't to be!

Brahma too good and well done to them.
Inter were very sluggish again with quality ball movement which has been their strength when playing well.
Was similar in 1st half against Iggies in semi but eventually come good.
Don't get that sort of chance against a quality outfit like Brahma..

Defensively Inter leaked like the Titanic.
Inter keeper got left one out a few times unfortunately.
Not sure why Steve Butler was not in side as he has been pretty solid down back most of year
Injured ??

Unfortunately Butler and Martini did not have the impact they normally do up front, but a lot of that was due to pressure put on ball carriers and some very poor ball quality which again was unlike Inter.

Not the best day to have a bad day but again hats off to Brahma for a great season.

I was hoping for an equaliser too. Extra time would have been entertaining.

Steven butler to my knowledge is fit and ready to go. Questions need to be asked of cook making decisions like this from overseas. Steve defiantly in their best 11

Played the Quarter Finals....I doubt Steve would have been left out of the team, let alone not even on the bench, unless injured or suspended.

So we agree it's a bad decision.Next time you see Steve butler ask him swanny. His not injured nor is he suspended

Steven Butler wasn't the difference tbh. After any loss you can ask questions like this, why didn't Simon Ielasi get on? Why didn't Chris Fleming start? You can't pick everyone.

His name was called out and received a medal in the presentations. And he was wearing trackies and boots so must have been on the bench.

I watched all 3 games and PHW would've won anyway.
Brahma too good first half and should've been 3-0 up but the own goal at the start of the 2nd half gave PHE a chance to get back into the game but they hugged, puffed and squealed for a decision but never really threatened to get the second goal.
Brahma gave Inter nothing in the firsts and looked like scoring every time they went forward as when Inter had it Brahma pressed them min the won half and often didn’t get over the half way line.
Better teams on the day won in all 3 grades.
