MATCH OF THE DAY
A Shane Pearce injury time goal has sealed a 4-3 win for Ingle Farm over Salisbury Inter at Underdown Park.
It was the 2nd meeting in seven days for the two clubs after Inter defeated Farm in a penalty shootout to progress to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup last Sunday.
A clearly motivated Farm flew out of the gates with Pearce volleying home the opener on eight minutes and he was at it again on 14 minutes when he scored a 25 yard free kick.
Farm went 3-0 up on 33 minutes after Inter failed to clear a corner and James Parker made no mistake from close range.
Inter grabbed a lifeline on 44 minutes when striker Andrew Butler was played through on goal and slid the ball home.
Two minutes after the break Salisbury struck again when Andy McConnell headed home from a corner and the Inter comeback was complete on 67 minutes when Alban Martini found some space in a crowded box to poke the ball home and set up a dramatic finish.
Both sides had opportunities with Farm’s Sonny Murrell firing just wide and Inters Martini striking the crossbar soon after but it was Pearce who received a ball from Musti Ipekdal before coolly chipping the out coming keeper to complete a fine hat trick.
A spell of four goals in 10 minutes has seen Elizabeth Downs comeback to defeat Elizabeth Grove 5-2 at Dauntsey Road.
The 2nd placed Downs found themselves behind on five minutes to a Jarred Foster goal but hit back on 25 minutes when Matt Watson fired home from a Braiden Gundlach ball.
The Peckers grabbed the lead on 72 minutes via Brad Docherty but the wheels fell off as the Maroons took control with another three goals from Watson and then a fine Scott Lindsay in a 10 minute spell.
SALISBURY Florina have consolidated their position in the top half of the table after a 3-0 win over West Beach at Underdown Park.
Florina took the lead a minute before the break when striker Jason Trimboli was fouled before coolly converting the spot kick. A minute after the break the lead was doubled when Trimboli grabbed his 2nd goal and Simon Wegener sealed the win when he scored on the hour mark.
BRAHMA Lodge continue on their winning way with a 5-0 lead over the bottom placed Tea Tree Gully at Cockburn Green.
The result was never in doubt as Brahma cruised to a 3-0 lead and despite Gully giving their all the league leaders proved too strong with Robbie Macdonald scoring two goals while Jake Cresenzi, Chad Bugeja and Brett Selda got on the scoresheet.
Lodge now need five points from their remaining three games to secure the league title.
AN Aaron Westerveld hat trick has helped Elizabeth Vale to a 5-3 win over Parafield Gardens at Mofflin Road.
Westerveld scored the first two goals of the game with headers before captain Jimmy Greaves made it 3-0 to the home side.
Gardens grabbed a goal back before half time through Callum Ebert and after the break a Simon Catanzaro free kick made it 3-2 before Westerveld got on the end of a long ball to fire home his hat trick.
Gardens scored again to make it 4-3 before Greaves sealed the game with his 2nd goal of the day.
