Craig Lairds Cup 1/4 finals write up

Match of The Day
SALISBURY Inter are through to the Challenge Cup semi Finals after a thrilling 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Ingle Farm at Walkleys Park.
Both teams came into the game on the back of indifferent league form with cup holders Farm looking to keep their hopes of a 3rd successive final alive.
The 1st half saw both sides struggling on a bumpy surface but on 35 minutes Alban Martini drove into the box before cutting the ball back to Andrew Butler but he couldn’t keep his shot from flying over the bar.
Moments later Farm’s Marcus Francesca floated past the inter defence only to be denied by Inter keeper Josh Forshaw.
In a game of few chances a touch of class from Musti Ipekdal on 64 minutes played in Shane Pearce who steadied before firing the ball home to the delight of the Farm faithful.
The tie appeared over on 76 minutes when Pearce again found the back of the net only to see the goal ruled out for offside.
As the clock ticked past 90 minutes Inter threw everyone forward and when the ball spilled to Michael Centrone he unleashed a thunderbolt from 30 yards which found the top corner to force extra time.
Extra time came and went without incident to send the teams into the shootout.
The shootout saw Farm miss the 1st and 4th penalty while Inter missed their 4th which left Inter’s Alban Martini to step up and he coolly converted to set off scenes of jubilation from the Salisbury camp as they won 4-2.
Steve Cook “We’ve had the Downs away and Farm away which is a big ask so we are elated to be in the semis.”
PARAFIELD Gardens have come from two goals down to run out 4-3 winners Over Elizabeth Grove in their Challenge Cup Quarter Final at Dauntsey Road.
The Grove jumped out of the blocks with goals from Kahmen Grieg and Anthony Costalos in the opening 20 minutes.
Gardens stormed back into the game with a Paul Whitney goal and then Simon Catanzaro struck with a fine free kick which was soon followed by a Catanzaro penalty as Gardens took a 3-2 lead to the break.
Catanzaro turned provider on 65 minutes when he played in Whitney who struck his 2nd goal to make it 4-2.
The Peckers grabbed a lifeline on 75 minutes through Scott Knox and with minutes left Grieg missed a one on one chance as Gardens progressed to the Semi Finals.
Louis Brain “It’s been a mixed year but now we are safe in the league we are focussing on the cup.”
BRAHMA Lodge survived an early scare to move into the Challenge Cup last four defeating Adelaide Uni 5-2 at Adelaide Uni Oval.
Uni struck within the 1st five minutes but their lead was short lived as Robbie Macdonald played in Chad Bugeja who fired home the equaliser.
Brahma took the lead in style with a fine Jay Crescenzi shot from distance and the flood gates opened with David Thorton making it 3-1 before Bugeja and Crescenzi both found the net to all but seal the game at half time.
Lodge coach Ryan Mogg “We are really pleased to be in the last four and look forward to the semis.”

They don't follow games of teams from south of grand junction road.

I assumed it was because it was an all Saturday divisions game - they don't exist.

I think you'll find he doesn't have contact from Saturday coaches... Can only watch one game at a time and relies on the club contact for details to compile the reports (I'm assuming)
In my time at Anfield we always said we had the best two teams on Merseyside - Liverpool and Liverpool reserves.
