MATCH OF THE DAY
BRAHMA LODGE vs WEST BEACH
A Robbie Macdonald hat trick has sealed a 3-0 win for the table topping Brahma Lodge over West Beach at Cockburn Green.
West Beach travelled to Brahma looking to build on their first win of the season while the home side were keen to protect a 100% winning record at Cockburn Green.
Right from the start the ninth placed Beach showed they were up for the fight with a Ricardo Nevarez header going wide after seven minutes.
Lodge started to assert themselves on the game with a fierce Macdonald shot being tipped wide by Beach keeper Dillon Royston-Howard and then moments later a Jay Crescenzi snap shot was cleared off the line.
On 12 minutes the league leaders broke through when Royston-Howard fumbled the ball and Macdonald slid the ball home.
Beach refused to give in but were fortunate to survive a Macdonald free kick which cannoned off the crossbar as well as two disallowed goals as they went to the break just one goal in arrears.
Macdonald was a continual source of danger and on 64 minutes he hit a rasping shot just over the bar but the Beach resistance ended on 73 minutes when a ball into the box found Peter McDermott who played in Macdonald and he fired passed the diving keeper.
The game was sealed on 81 minutes when Macdonald clinically finished his 3rd of the day from 20 yards.
The result keeps Brahma two points clear at the top while Beach have now confirmed their relegation from the top flight.
Brahma coach Ryan Mogg “There are no easy games in this division and West Beach put in a really good shift but in the end I think we deserved the win.”
A 2nd half blitz has seen Elizabeth Downs rout the relegated Tea Tree Gully 7-0 at Tilley Reserve.
Gully started the game brightly and would have considered themselves unlucky to be 1-0 down at the half time break with the goal coming from Downs striker Ben De Bono on the half hour.
After the break however it was one way traffic with Scott Lindsay and Blake Hillas both scoring a brace while Braiden Gundlach and Matt Watson rounded out the scoring for the visitors.
Ingle Farm got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Elizabeth Grove at Walkleys Park.
Farm did the damage in the opening half with Marcus Francesca on hand to slot the ball home after a goal mouth scramble while Liam Mulvaney got on the end of a Sonny Murrell free kick to head the ball into the net.
SALISBURY Florina have jumped from 8th to 5th on the table after a 3-1 win over Elizabeth Vale at Underdown Park.
Florina took a lead on 20 minutes thanks to a thunderous shot from Alex Djorem finding the roof of the net.
The lead was doubled on the hour when a cross from the right fell to Jason Trimboli who tapped the ball home and the game was sealed soon after when Trimboli got on the end of a long ball before losing his defender and coolly slotting the goal.
Aaron Westerveld scored a consolation goal for the Vale as Florina halted a five game winless run.
SALISBURY Inter have returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory of Parafield Gardens at Bradman Oval.
Inter winless in their last three league games faced a Gardens team looking to build on a comeback win over Elizabeth Grove in round 14.
In the end one goal proved enough with Marcus Marchioro who playing a fine ball to Dan Roadley and when his fine shot was well blocked by Gardens keeper Anthony Stam the ball fell to Chris Fleming who steered the ball home.
