MATCH OF THE DAY
BRAHMA LODGE vs ELIZABETH DOWNS
BRAHMA Lodge has moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League after beating the 2nd placed Elizabeth Downs 1-0 at Cockburn Green.
Brahma came into the game looking to bounce back after their first loss of the season in round 9 while the Downs travelled to Brahma knowing a win would send them to the top of the table.
The first half was a cagey affair with few chances created in tough conditions. The best chance of the half falling to Brahmas Robbie Macdonald who pounced on an errant Michael Cartwright back pass before shooting into the side netting.
The Maroons started the 2nd half brightly with Damien Daglish firing a shot across the face on 50 minutes and on 58 minutes a Daglish cross floated on the wind and cannoned off the crossbar.
On the hour Scott Lindsay crafted some space for himself before firing a shot which was well saved by Brahma keeper Jimmy McKee.
The decisive moment of the game came on 66 minutes when the Downs failed to clear the ball and when the ball fell to Chad Bugeja he steadied before picking his spot from 20 yards to give the Lodgers a 1-0 lead.
Bugeja went close to doubling the lead moments later only to be denied by Ben Aldridge.
With time running out the Downs pushed Cartwright forward and on 84 minutes he had an opportunity from 12 yards out which looked goal bound only to be denied by a brilliant save by McKee.
Lodge coach Ryan Mogg “I thought both teams nullified each other today and in the end we took our chance.”

INGLE Farm remain in the championship race after a 3-0 win over the inform Salisbury Florina at Underdown Park.
Both sides came into the game in good recent form but the champions were rarely tested as Shane Pearce fired home a hat trick to keep the Farmers within six points of the league leaders Brahma Lodge.

ELIZABETH Grove made it three wins from four after defeating the bottom placed West Beach 2-1 at Lockleys Oval.
The Peckers took a 20 minutes lead through Anthony grenache but the lead was short lived with Kevin O’Neil heading Beach level on 22 minutes.
The visitors grabbed the winner on the hour when Mark Kelly drove a fine 30 yard shot home to leave Beach winless at the foot of the table.

SALISBURY Inter continued their good run of form with a 4-2 win over Elizabeth Vale at Mofflin Road.
Inter took an early lead through a Marcus Marchioro header and the lead was doubled by Andrew Butler on 40 minutes. Inter were reduced to 10 men just before the break and when Vale coach Aaron Westervelt scored early in the 2nd half the game was well and truly on.
Inter’s Alban Martini regained Inter’s two goal advantage on 70 minutes before Westervelt again reduced the gap with a fine volley.
The points were secured on 85 minutes through a brilliant solo goal by Matt Centrone to make it three wins on the trot for Inter while the Vale have now lost five in a row.

PARAFIELD Gardens have secured a vital three points with a 2-0 win over Tea Tree Gully at Tilley Reserve.
Gardens took a 1-0 lead to the break thanks to Simon Catanzaro and any hopes of a Gully 2nd half revival were ended through a Tyson Prescott strike.
