Match of The Day
SALISBURY INTER vs ELIZABETH DOWNS
SALISBURY Inter and Elizabeth Downs have had to settle for a share of the points after a dramatic 4-4 draw at Underdown Park.
The 2nd placed Downs took a 13th minute lead when Scott Lindsay curled a 20 meter free kick past the diving Cameron Berry.
Inter were level on 22 minutes when they pounced on a Downs midfield turnover before playing in the speedy Alban Martini who fired his shot into the roof of the net.
The Maroons were creating a number of chances with Michael Cartwright and Matt Watson hitting the woodwork but on 41 minutes they regained the lead when Lindsay fired home his 2nd goal in style.
A minute after the break Inter were again level when a Martini cross found Andrew Butler who volleyed the ball home. Both teams continued to create chances and on 62 minutes Downs substitute Ben DeBono cut the ball back to Braiden Gundlach who made it 3-2.
The lead was short lived as Inter struck through Marcus Marchioro on 64 minutes only to again concede when DeBono tapped the ball home on 67 minutes.
On 86 minutes Martini cut in from the left before firing past a diving Ben Aldridge to the delight of the home support and the drama continued in stoppage time when Inter won a penalty but Aldridge was on hand with a fine diving save to deny Butler.
The Maroons finished the game with nine players after Stephen Hughes received a 2nd yellow while Shaun Clarke was given a straight red card.
Inter coach Steve Cook “It was an entertaining game and I think a draw was a fair result.”
Meanwhile Brahma Lodge have moved five points clear at the top with a 3-1 win over Salisbury Florina at Underdown Park.
Lodge took a 1-0 lead to the break thanks to a Michael Mullen goal and that lead was doubled on the hour when Chad Bugeja rose high to head the ball home.
Jason Trimboli took advantage of a loose back pass to make it 2-1 but Lodge settled any nerves when Jake Crescnzi made it 3-1 with a cool finish.
INGLE Farm have consolidated themselves in 3rd spot after a 4-2 win over the 4th placed Elizabeth Vale at Mofflin Road.
Farm found themselves a goal down on 27 minutes but drew level just before the break thanks to a Pro Loizides goal.
James Parker and Salli Turson both scored exceptional goals to give the Farmers a 3-1 lead before an Aaron Westervelt free kick narrowed the gap for the Vale.
A Late Mark Kelly goal secured a 3-2 win for Elizabeth Grove over fellow strugglers Tea Tree Gully at Dauntsey Road.
The Peckers took a 2-1 lead to the break with goals from Brad Docherty and Gaje Ferdinand but with minutes left they were locked at 2-2 until on 88 minutes Kelly got on the end of a Docherty ball to slide home the winner.
West Beach collected their 2nd point of the season after a 1-1 draw with Parafield Gardens at Lockleys Oval.
Beach took the lead on 55 minutes when Lewis McFadyen lobbed Anthony Stam from distance but Beach were denied all three points when a Simon Catanzaro shot was deflected into the net on 88 minutes.
