cheers for the link, very interesting, cant see them fielding senior sides in both comps

Vista must have a sponsor with pockets sufficiently deep enough to pay players in their Amateur First team as well as their new FFSA Senior team.

After Macedonia's shock 3-1 win over Knights the promotion chasing clubs should be aware of the dangers of the relegation threatened clubs.
Top team Vista face a tricky away game against 8th placed Angle Vale.
Easties(2nd) have a tough away game against an unpredictable Ghan(7th).
Westies(3rd) are at home to a dangerous Macedonia(10th).
4th placed Knights can keep themselves back in the promotion hunt with a win over 6th placed Pontian.
Raptors (5th) should defeat 9th placed Savoy.

The 'new' Macedonia will be very hard to beat, especially when they get to know each other better, will certainly have some bearing considering they still need to play East and Vista, if Vista win this week, they will have wrapped up the title, second spot is still very much up for grabs

Vista need to win 2 out of the 3 remaining games to finish 1st or win 1 game out of the 3 games to finish 2nd and so the top spot is still open at this stage.

I reality, one more win should mean they hang on to top spot with their current far superior goal difference (+14 more than a nearest rival) and 6 point lead...

If the decision at Vista is to join SL2 they will still have at least A's and B's still in the amateur league. The current amateur teams are happy in amateurs. The club are making the decision to help our junior fed teams gain promotion, they can't without mens sides in the FFSA.

Where will the players come from to make up the mens FFSA teams ?

Some of the more ambitious players will come from the current amateur team I'd imagine as most of the current players in the team are good enough to play in the NPL.

Well I'd guess they'll hold trials like other clubs. Gotta start somewhere. I think most of the A's would stay with the amateurs, they have worked hard to get up there.

So you'll have your amateurs having a tough season. Div 1 would be difficult even with your current team, as I'm sure you are well aware of. ( your current team is better than your relegated side to be fair) and SL2 doing it tough if you thin yourself out too much.

Seeing as a number of your players came to your club having not " cut it" at SL level NPL is a lot higher.

A lot of SAASL would have thought Fulham would be better than Gawler but it doesn't appear that way. I believe your current side would be more than competitive in SL2, but can't see you gaining anymore than average local FFSA reserve players coming across and only if they thought they could play seniors as SL2 reserves would be a fairly low standard

Would have thought Vista should be putting their eggs in the FFSA basket rather than struggling through 2 leagues. good luck either way

I have watched many games in the SAASL and FFSA this year. Modbury Vista would be close to winning the SL2 competition with their current side. Maybe mid table State League 1 side. NPL a stretch. They play a hard, fast, attacking brand of football. They would struggle a little with the referees in the SL2 as it is a lot less physical. They're not by any means an undisciplined side. It just seems to me the footballs gone a little soft in the centre with the FFSA.

Sorry, I meant the SL2 rather than the NPL 1st tier - in any case the NPL 1st tier is not such a big deal like it was many years ago when the league had real decent players playing at that level.

So you're saying SL2 is the equivalent, or lesser that, of a sunday div 2 side? I'm interested to hear your thoughts on what the lower tier, then the middle tier, and the top tier of Sunday div 1 sides may fare out to be. And as it stands, where do Vista sit in your eyes with Sunday div1 amateur side??

Probably about where Gullies and West Beach sit
