Match of The Day
Ingle Farm vs Elizabeth Downs

ELIZABETH Downs have signalled themselves as a genuine League challenger after a dominant 5-1 win over reigning Champions Ingle Farm at Walkleys Park.
The Downs came into the game looking to build on an impressive away record that has seen them win two from two while scoring 11 goals and not conceding while Farm were looking to protect a home record that sees them unbeaten since 2014.
After an even first 20 minutes the Maroons started to take control in the midfield with Scott Lindsay and Dillon Pickert pulling the strings and Lindsay went within a whisker of an opener when a long distance free kick was parried wide by Farm keeper Tony Shaw.
The visitors started creating chance after chance and on 29 minutes they took a deserved lead when Matt Watson got on the end of a good build up before seeing his effort saved but he was on hand to bundle home the rebound and make it 1-0.
Pickert made a barnstorming run from the half way line on 36 minutes before shooting inches wide as Farm did well to get to the break only one behind.
The Downs dominance continued after the break and on the hour Lindsay doubled the lead with a fine strike from distance.
The game was all but over on 64 minutes when Cartwright squared a ball that was coolly finished by Blake Hillas and three minutes later it was 4-0 when Farm were again ripped apart and Shaun Clarke netted the goal.
The goal spree continued on 70 minutes when Hillas scored a 2nd goal before Anthony Fedele gave the home fans something to cheer about on 75 minutes when he got on the end of a Musti Ipekdal pass before firing the ball into the roof of the net to make it 5-1.
Downs coach Alan Mottram “We had to make some late changes due to injury so to get the result and play the way we did was a real credit to the boys.”

BRAHMA Lodge remain top of the table after a 4-1 win over the previously undefeated Elizabeth Vale at Cockburn Green.
Lodge took a two goal lead to the break thanks to a double from Chad Bugeja and when Robbie McDonald coolly converted a 2nd half penalty the game was all but over.
The visitors got on the score sheet through a penalty before Bugeja completed his hat trick to the delight of coach Ryan Mogg “You have to win your home games so this was a good three points for us.”
A late Billy Allotty strike has helped Tea Tree Gully to a 3-2 win over West Beach at Hancock Road.
The bottom two clubs played out a riveting game which saw Gully twice take the lead through Allotty and Scott Williams only to see Beach’s Ronan McManus equalise on both occasions.
Just as a share of the spoils looked likely Allotty bobbed up on 85 minutes to bundle the ball home to the delight of coach Neville Flounders “We have a long way to go but we are hopeful that we can build on this win.

A Reece Knox hat trick has inspired Elizabeth Grove to a 5-2 win over Parafield Gardens at Bradman Oval.
The travelling Peckers were looking to gain their first away points and it was Knox who gave them the lead with a wonder strike from 30 yards and when Jarred Foster then found the net against his old side and Knox scored again the Grove took a 3-0 lead to the break.
Gardens striker Oathman ‘Ozzie’ Fazilahmed gave the home fans hope with an early 2nd half goal but any hopes were snuffed out through another Knox goal before Kahmen Grieg made it five. A Tyson Prescott header 10 minutes from time was pure consolation for Parafield.

SALISBURY Inter have run out 4-3 winners in their local derby against Salisbury Florina at Underdown Park.
Inter raced out to a 3-0 lead on 25 minutes thanks to two goals from Cesk Mandi and one from Chris Fleming.
Florina showed good character to fight back with goals coming from Brandon McCormack and Brad Boocock as they narrowed the gap to 3-2 at the break.
With four minutes left on the clock Andrew Butler struck to give Inter a two goal cushion before Boocock netted his 2nd in the last minute to make it 4-3.
