Match of The Day
Brahma Lodge vs Salisbury Inter
AN Aleks Simic back heel goal with ten minutes left on the clock has seen Brahma Lodge run out 2-1 winners over a gallant Salisbury Inter at Cockburn Green.
Lodge came into the game looking to make it four wins from four games while Inter were looking to build on a round three win having drawn their opening two games.
Inter looked fired up for the contest but on 20 minutes they fell behind when a Chad Bugeja cross found Robbie McDonald at the back post who tapped the ball home from close range.
The visitors refused to buckle and on 40 minutes drew level when an Andrew Butler free kick from around 40 yards wasn’t handled by Brahma keeper Jimmy McKee as the ball slipped through his grasp and into the net.
The 2nd half was an even affair with both sides creating chances but on 80 minutes the crucial goal came when a Freddy Aguis corner was only half cleared and when Jake Crescnzi fire the ball back into the box Simic was on hand to back heel the ball into the net.
With time running out Inter struck the cross bar before, Russell Deeley headed the rebound only to be denied by a fine McKee save on the line.
The win ensures Lodge remain three points clear at the top to the delight of coach Ryan Mogg “We are really happy to have taken the points today, to be honest I think a draw would have been a fair result.” While Inter coach Steve Cook was pleased with his teams efforts “I was really proud of the boys, we have set a standard that we need to maintain.”

A 90th minute Shane McGeough goal has ensured West Beach’s first point of the season after a surprise 2-2 draw with Elizabeth Vale at Moflin Road.
The Vale came into the game sitting second on the table and on 20 minutes, they took the lead when Michael Francis grabbed the opener.
Bud Hilton’s Beach have had a slow start to the season but on 40 minutes they drew level when Ben Yolland was fouled in the box before Kevin O’Neil converted the resulting penalty kick.
Vale playing coach Aaron Westerveld appeared to have grabbed all three points when he fired home a superb free kick on 75 minutes but the never say die Beach secured a point when substitute McGrough lobbed the Vale keeper from the edge of the 18 yard box.
Beach coach Bud Hilton “We fought really hard and got what we deserved today.” Vale coach Aaron Westerveldt “To Beach’s credit they worked really hard. I thought we had our chances but didn’t take them today.”

JASON Trimboli has turned back the clock with an outstanding hat trick as Salisbury Florina defeated Elizabeth Grove 4-2 at Underdown Park.
The visiting Grove took the lead on eight minutes through a fine Kahmen Grieg 25 yard free kick before Trimboli struck on 20 minutes as he cut in from the left before smashing the ball home.
Trimboli replicated his first goal on 35 minutes to send Florina into the break 2-1 up and on the hour, he turned provider when he beat the offside trap before lobbing the keeper and Evan Karinikos was on hand to slot the ball home.
The Peckers grabbed a lifeline on 75 minutes when Jarred Foster scored with his head but Trimboli rounded off an outstanding performance on 85 minutes when he got on the end of a long ball before thundering it home from 30 yards.
Florina coach Jeff McCormack “Jason was unbelievable today; it’s been a really solid start for us.”
Grove coach Shane Golder “No complaints today, Jason turned the clock back and was almost unstoppable today.”

HATRICKS from Musti Ipekdal and Shane Pearce have helped the champions Ingle Farm to a 6-2 win over Tea Tree Gully at Walkleys Park.
Ipekdal opened the scoring on 20 minutes when he rounded the keeper before sliding the ball into the unguarded net.
Shane Pearce was fouled and converted the resulting penalty to double the lead before Gully’s Daniel Mettyear fired home a quality freekick to make it 2-1 at the break.
Farm regained their two-goal advantage on 46 minutes when Pearce showed his class in chipping the out coming Gully keeper.
Gully again reduced the deficit through an opportunistic Rhys Devlin goal before Ipekdal fired a strike into the roof of the net to again gain a two-goal cushion.
Pearce converted a penalty to claim his hat trick and not to be out done Ipekdal grabbed his third as the home side ran out comfortable 6-2 winners.
Farm coach Paul Simpson “We played well today but there is still plenty of room for improvement.”

ELIZABETH Downs have staked a claim as a legitimate championship challenger after a convincing 5-1 win over Parafield Gardens at Argana Park.
The opening half hour was an even affair but the game turned when Downs wing back Tommy Blackett was fouled in the box and Scott Lindsay converted the spot kick.
Eight minutes later the lead was doubled when a Braiden Gundlach cross picked out Michael Cartwright who tapped the ball into the net from close range.
Any thoughts of a Gardens comeback were put to bed in a dynamic 15-minute spell at the start of the second half when Cartwright struck twice to secure a hat trick before Matt Watson finished coolly from 18 yards making it 5-0.
Gardens grabbed a cancellation goal on 85 minutes through Salli Turson.
Downs coach Alan Mottram “I thought our defence was outstanding today. We now look forward to a real challenge against Ingle Farm this week”
