I see we still have a Sat Div 4 team in Seniors and Sat Div 3 team in Reserves
I remember Elizabeth Grove where in Div3 in 1997 when they won the cup..the only time a div3 club had won it i think.

Sturt 3 Arbe 0

Sturt too good Arbe simply didn't turn up, in saying that I went to the last 2 weeks of Sturts games, totally different sides, not sure if they send A to B and B to A for the cup, but the team today was not the team that has been playing ressies recently, yet I seen some of them lining up in the senior squad against the Grove..

Sturt 2 Grove 1
I think we were the better of the two sides. Missed some chances to seal the game and let Grove back in it late on. Fin last 10 or so with 10 men.

Sturt 3 ARBE 0
Sturt dominated this game and really never let ARBE get into gear.

Should add there is no swapping of players by Sturt for Cup games.
Fortunately the A squad runs pretty deep this year and we have 4 teams so B squad runs deep also.

We had a few B Graders absent today and 1 A Grader suspended and teams have changed a little over the last few weeks covering outs but there were no A Graders playing in B's as I think all are cup tied now. Only one regular B Grader called up to the A Grade - the Keeper as regular keeper was away last 2 weeks.

Just seems strange that of 9 guys listed as goal scorers in your entire season there were only two listed and one was on bench (who according to the ref did not even come on). Seems very odd that a joint highest goal scorer is listed on the bench and doesn't even come on in game you need goals. Maybe you played all C guys, maybe you combine A&B at round one, who knows. Either way you won and Arbe didn't deserve oranges at halftime that is def the truth!!

They won so they didn't need goals.
I'd smash Kelly Brook's back doors in.

I was shocked to read we had 9 goal scorers :D
I checked the league website. Our top scorer for reserves has 2 goals. He played 1 game before returning to A Grade.
Kinda sums up what I said before.

Abdullah played yesterday
Blyth was on the bench
McElroy is the coach
Another is now an A grader and 3 were out injured or away
2 are now in the C Grade.

Like I said I had to check cos I was shocked we had 9 goal scorers but yesterday we had 3 separate scorers so I guess it shows we share the love

Scrap the Ressies cup which is out dated and a farce. Replace it with a league cup (a cup for each league) so each club can choose which is more important for them, the "seniors" cup or their own league cup or both.

What else do you want - a cup for each postcode?

Is that a serious response to a suggested change?

We should give Sturt Marion credit for getting things right on and off the park this year, as former player/coach at the club I can tell you they have good depth right throughout their squads, and from the teams that played in the cup games Saturday, they still have players to come back into the A's + B squad, and credit to the coaches for keeping a good balance without cup tied too many players.
If you look at the past league results, the A's game was always going to be tough contest, and in the B's Sturt have won last 4 games, ( even without one of their key players who was caught up in the Bali volcano/flight delay drama ) and both C teams are doing well, shows they have good depth.
B's coach McElroy has been a consistent top goal scorer for the Bs past seasons, was on the bench for the A's - my guess is so not to cup tie any of the B players ( dont think Chris has played many games this year since taking over coaching role.)
Give credit where it is due, since Hodgy and Chris have taken over the coaching roles earlier this year, seems like collectively the club has sorted things out and help make them competitive in all grades.
Quarter finals will be very interesting, and I am sure all clubs will now be focussing on their next league match.
Cheers

Casino Aces (Sunday Division 7) defeated NAB (Sunday Division 2) in the 1990 Cup semi-final. The final score was 2:1; however, the match was awarded to NAB due to an ineligible player. Salisbury Inter defeated NAB in the final.

So what are the odds of Ingle Farm, Parafield and the Downs all being kept apart in the next round of the draw?

Will be interesting to see how 'random' the draw will be....

I can guarantee they'll be not facing each other in the reserves.

Well who would have predicted that?

Only surprise was Sturt/Old Ignatians drawn together. Gives Sturt a great chance of making the semi - decent team.
