SAASL Starting a Womens League in 2016

Post by Robbo »

SAASL taking FFSA to task it seems.

Much cheaper for girls to be registered in this league

I thought they already had an amateur league, don't the Downs, Munno Para & the Vale have womens teams?

Yes they do but they currently play in the FF$A womens competition.

Why stop at a womens amateur competition why not start up an affordable metropolitan amateur junior competition

Isn't that what E&D is?

Comes down to what you want really, gives parents ect options.

Yes but E&D is northern based I was suggesting the whole of metro area.

Yeh sorry I was thinking that, just an expanded version.

From what I hear about the running of the game currently under the FF$A, they won't take long to catch up! Great move by the amateur league stepping in with the door wide open!

Also of note is that EDJSA has not tried to spread its altrusim and socialist ideals to the southern suburbs.

If Southern Knights can survive the drop, having a women's side and a men's C-Team would help grow the club.

Why is club survival dependent on staying in Div 1?

Do you have a lot of guys that are only there for the prestige of playing Div 1 Sundays?

Well, they are certainly not at Knights for the money  . (PS didn't say the club's survival was at stake :? , just that we would like to avoid relegation...just as many teams in lower Division seek promotion).
I think that the challenge of Sunday Premier Division is an alternative for fringe FFSA players...we would also love to have a C-Team or Over 35s, unfortunately finding time slots at our current shared ground is a prohibiting factor.
Also nearly all of the Sunday Premier Division Clubs have Womens teams, C-Teams and Over 35s....would make a good day event for fixtures rather than having teams all over the place on game day.

Not really!
It's depends of what the kids really want to achieve.
If they want a great morale, club environment, good people, no backstabbing & bitchiness
STICK TO AMATEURS
It's much safer in the long run :D

We have had an amazing response to our Womens team and our under 13 girls team in the FFSA, unfortunately the high fees and also the lack of match officials allocated have got us as a club to question our affiliation. If the SAASL is to start up a womens comp then I would like to see it go a step further and have a girls comp for 13 - 18 year olds perhaps run under the E&D banner to encourage the young girls to stay in sport and also assist some parents who simply cant afford the FFSA fees and to perhaps ease the travel from one side of the city to the other to watch their kids play on a sunday.
