MATCH OF THE DAY
SALISBURY INTER (1) vs PARAFIELD GARDENS (3)

PARAFIELD Gardens remains one point behind Ingle Farm after a comprehensive 3-1 win over a disappointing Salisbury Inter at Underdown Park.
Inter came into the game looking to get back on the winners list after two defeats while Gardens were looking to make it three wins out of three on the road.
Gardens settled the better and on eight minutes Shane Pearce played in Angelo Arambatzis whose shot was well saved by Inter keeper Nick Sincock.
On 17 minutes Pearce did some fine work in the box and when he rounded Sincock a goal appeared certain only to be denied by a fine goal line block from Nathan Pettit.
The visitors took a deserved lead on 29 minutes when Mat Marczuk played in Arambatzis who steadied before curling his shot around Sincock into the far corner.
On 34 minutes Daniel Roadley was unlucky to not make it 2-0 as his effort went just wide and Sincock had to be at his best to deny Arambatzis with a fine diving save moments later.
Inter would have been looking for a reaction after the break but it didn’t come as Gardens were awarded a penalty on 47 minutes when Pearce was taken down and he made no mistake from the spot kick.
Sincock came to Inter’s rescue again on the hour when Pearce picked up the ball 25 yards out before moving it onto his left foot and hammering his shot which looked goal bound only for Sincock to parry it wide.
The game was settled on 82 minutes when Marczuk picked up an errant Inter pass before rounding the keeper to make it 3-0.
Inter grabbed a conciliation goal late in the game when Marcus Marchioro lobbed an out coming Anthony Stam to give the home fans something to cheer about on an otherwise disappointing day.
Gardens Vice President Stephen Roadley “It was a high quality performance by the boys today, everyone did their bit.”
Inter coach Steve Cook “Credit to Gardens they were easily the better team today. We were disappointing and beaten in just about all areas.”
WEST BEACH (0) vs INGLE FARM (4)
INGLE Farm remain one point clear at the top of the Premier division table after a comfortable 4-0 win over the struggling West Beach at Lockleys Oval.
Beach were hoping to arrest a three game losing run while Farm were looking for a third successive win away from home.
After an even opening 15 minutes visiting Farm showed their class banging in four goals in the opening half to all but put the game to bed.
The pick of the goals came from Ben White whose 20 yard free kick cannoned in off the post while Musti Ipekdal was again on the scoring sheet along with Alex Baxter and Sonny.
To West Beach’s credit they fought hard in the 2nd half and created the better chances without finding the net.
Farm’s Chris Ennis was pleased with the win “West Beach really pushed Gardens last week and we knew it was going to be a tough game so we are really pleased to take the three points and to not concede a goal is also a real positive.”
ELIZABETH VALE (0) vs ELIZABETH DOWNS (2)
TWO 2nd half goals have proven enough for Elizabeth Downs as they defeated Elizabeth Vale 2-0 in their local derby at Moflin Road.
The Vale came into the game having won their last two in the league while the 2014 champion Downs were looking for a fourth successive victory.
In the opening half the Vale showed what an organized unit they are under Earl Pudler as the sides went to the break locked at 0-0.
After the break the Maroons opened the scoring when a fine long diagonal ball from Matt Wise picked out Jason Trimboli who needed one touch to cut inside before finishing in style to the delight of the travelling Downs army.
15 minutes from time the game was settled when veteran Stephen Hughes played a dangerous ball into the box and the attempted clearance from Steve Doolan deflected into his net.
Downs coach Alan Mottram was pleased with the result “There is never a favorite in a Vale vs Downs game so we are really happy to come away with the three points.”
SOUTHERN KNIGHTS (1) vs FULHAM (2)
TEN man Fulham have a staged a courageous comeback to defeat Southern Knights at Southern Knights Ground.
Knights came into the game looking for their first win of the campaign while Fulham were looking to build on only one win in their first five fixtures.
Southern Knights got off to the perfect start when they struck on five minutes. A long ball from keeper Steven Maguire found Tom Foglia who slotted his chance nicely.
Things got worse for Fulham in the 10th minute when they had a player sent off for dissent leaving the visitors with ten men for the remaining 80 minutes and a mountain to climb.
To their credit Fulham pushed forward and created a number of chances including hitting the cross bar on three separate occasions.
On 81 minutes Fulham grabbed a deserved equalizer when Joseph Panuchio picked the ball up on an acute angle before cutting back and firing his shot across the keeper and into the net to set up a thrilling last ten minutes.
Rather than settle for a point Fulham searched for a winner which came on 88 minutes when a ball into the box was met by a Paul Beerzotti header to seal a memorable victory.
Fulham coach John Christopoulos “It’s a tough place to get a result so to get a win in the circumstances is a really great result for us.”
Knights coach Jim McGuiness was disappointed with his side’s performance “Possession wise we had our share but we just broke down going forward. Credit to Fulham they were hungrier than us today and deserved their win.”
PARA HILLS WEST (3) vs ELIZABETH GROVE (1)
PARA Hills West have made it two wins on the bounce with a 3-1 win over Elizabeth Grove at Manor Farm Ground.
Westies came into the game looking to build on a surprise 1-0 win away at Fulham while the Peckers were looking to redeem themselves after a 2-1 loss to rivals Elizabeth Vale.
It was Para who opened the scoring on 10 minutes when a cross from the right hand side picked out Micheal Coleman who made no mistake from close range.
The visitors were back on level terms on the half hour when some good build up play finished with Jarrod Foster who turned and fired a shot which deflected into the net.
With 20 minutes remaining Kurtis Cracknell blasted a free kick into the box which was headed home in style by Michael Simpson to give Westies a 2-1 lead.
Westies had managed just three goals in five league games but they scored a 3rd when they received a penalty which Cracknell converted to the delight of the Westies faithful.
The win takes Westies four points clear of the drop zone to the delight of Coach Chris Groom “The boys have had a lot to learn and you can see they are getting better. The lads are feeling really good about themselves at the moment and looking forward to next week.”
For Grove coach Shane Golder it was another case of missed opportunities “We aren’t taking our chances and today we let ourselves down defensively.”
