All 4 games look good.
East vs Florina and Gully vs Vista 2 decent 2nd division encounters. I predict Florina 3-0 and Gully 2-1
Brahma vs Inter will be on for young and old. Brahma 3-0
Farm vs Gardens will be interesting as both expected league contenders. Farm at home 2-1

Cheers Lefty

Is this the first of its kind the saasl is holding a pre-season cup of this nature where all zones play off to determine the overall zone champ?

Overall good idea allowing all zones to participate.

I guess this explains the delayed start to normal season kick-off?

The Templin Cup has been run by SAASL off & on over the years however in recent times a number of clubs in various regions have successfully run their own preseason competitions.

This is the first year whereby each of the club run competitions (Southern, Playford, Salisbury & Central) have come together as 4 zones to create a qualifying round for the SAASL Templin Cup Final Series.

The Templin Cup is not the reason the season start has been put back that would be easter & the leagues calender.

In future the concept may change slightly to be closer to season start & allow other teams who have expressed interest into the competition increasing the number of teams to 32. We may also see each participating club host a preliminary round (subject to ground availability) & potentially introduce a quarter final structure.

Thanks Lefty summed up to a T mate..cheers.

Really good to see the different zones collaborating together & if in future more teams get involved it will definitely make the comp even more exciting.

Like these ideas, this will complete the comp almost to perfection, later dates may not mean so many hot days too coz February sux.

You've definitely started something great here Mick, well done mate !!

Lefty has done a great job creating the central zone and getting the other comps
to join in to compete in the Templin Cup he approached the SAASL with the idea
they said if you can get it up we will support it.

While some don't like the concept (LRO  ) most have embraced the idea of well organized
preseason games that now have some silverware up for grabs.

The inner north previously the mayors cup had 4 teams in the Salisbury area competing
and now has 8 teams competing with several other wanting to join next year.

The goodwill this has created between clubs is what has made this comp successful

This has been a great competition for us at vista as we havent had to worry about organising some pointless trial games because when there is a cup or a trophy on the line all players tend to give that bit extra. Well run and cant wait to hopefully be a host venue next year.

34 and over the policy states

I just want to say this on the SAASL heat policy - it is absolute bollocks to play the games from 5pm - this to me is the hottest part of the day !! I think games could be played up to and finished by 1:30-2:00pm then re-started again after 6pm. Particularly if the temperature is only 34C

At 5pm the other week it was still over 40C (at 5pm) when a game kicked off.

Personally i think if the temperature is over 40C then there should only be night games, but 34C, I think not playing between 2pm and 6pm is adequate.

but I am sure experts have had their say on these matters

Totally agree with you Robbo, still after 5pm the temps have been hotter than what policy allows. Furthermore, fans are more likely to venture to the beach later on in the day than hang under a tree whilst its 40.
Think its time a review of the policy needs updating - maybe T Abbot can have some input, he's been on a roll lately lol

The contradiction between soccer bodies over the hot weather policy is becoming a joke. The cut off temperatures and the different sources which you obtain the cut off temperature is ridiculous.
E&D 32degrees or over broadcast on the channel 9 news the day prior, no training or games at all
FFSA juniors between 34 and 36 degrees only before 10 am or after 6pm nothing in between. Over 36 you get notified by email 2 days prior to the expected temperature that no training or games.
SAASL as people have already stated.
Quite simply ridiculous, the BOM web site gives 2 updates daily, one after 7 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon which all news broadcasters go by. It also gives you an hourly run down what temps will be and any warnings. Why cant they all agree on 1 simple policy for 1 sport.

Jack the E&D policy is the worst can't even train after 6pm even when daylight
savings finishes. Last night we couldn't train (U/16's) as the forecast was for 32
But ! it only reached 31 ...! ! It's a joke we all have smartphones and can see
what the temp is at the location we are in. This needs to change and it needs to be
done now ..!!!

How was the finalist for the reserve final decided in the southern cup. Did seaford and mclaren districts not finish on the same points, goal difference and goals scored?

Are there any other games scheduled for this weekend or is it just the finalists who get to play?
