SUNDAY RESULTS 27th July

Post by eric the great »

C- ARBE 0-1 PHE

Good game played in tough conditions but most importantly played in the right spirit.

As - Polonia 3 Raptors 2
Bs - Polonia 1 Raptors 2

In the Bs it was a tight affair and we were unlucky not to get a result. It was a good turnaround from the last time we played them so well done to our lads.
In the As all the goals came in the 2nd half! We went behind twice but fought back and scored in the last minute from a corner to clinch all 3 points!

All the best to Raptors for the rest of the season because they're a really good bunch of lads and we appreciate them coming in after the game for a few beers!

Ressies was a 2 nil win to The Downs, Best Referee we have had all year, didn't get her name but done a very good job let the game flow! Very impressed.

Any other div 2 A, B & C results? Heard Easties and Grove won but wouldn't mind some scores for the club tables

Man that guy with the long throw is annoying! Best of luck to pontian. Good bunch of young lads there. Hopefully they find their feet again.

I heard grove beat San Marco 4 zip.

Bit of a master class in football today from the Downs....Trimmer's first goal of the day broke the deadlock and set the scene for the day....
Disappointed for Knights to go down 1-8 at home, however, some of the locals appeared to enjoy the defeat.
A baptism of fire for Ryan Curran in his first outing for Knights As and Daniel McGuire in his first game in goal for Knights Reserves.
Big struggle for survival over the next 5 games
Thanks for the Downs coming in after the game after their big show last night....always nice to have a bit of atmosphere in the Clubrooms after the game...

Plympton [3] v [4] South Coast - A Grade

South Coast as usual went down within the first 10 by a cracking strike from one of the Plympton lads followed by another when coast failed to clear a corner. After some fantastic passive play form our Midfield, Ben Johnstone manage to net his second goal on 3 appearances for us before half time. After a constructive half time team talk, South Coast came out and completely dominated the second half. A long ball from the RB sent Doug Wade through to allow him to knock the ball in for our CF before Doug himself managed to grab another. An identical ball from the back allowed Doug to knock in a perfect cross from Ben Johnstone to head in his second of the game. Plympton then scored from a free kick with about 10 to go followed by having another free kick disallowed for offside in the dying seconds of the game, a little Karma for some of the decisions in the B Grade I think. All in all, Coast looking good and now picking up some points.

Plympton [2] v [0] South Coast - B Grade

South Coast bizarrely had a Plympton own goal ruled out for offside ... The Plympton ref then decided to award Plympton with a penalty after the Coast keeper expertly dealt with a 50/50 ball clearing it out of play before the CF followed through into him ultimately coming off worse ... Plympton covered the penalty and tempers began to flare a little. It was a fairly evenly contested game thereafter before Plympton put the game to bed 10 minutes from the end.

It's crazy that Downs are averaging nearly 5 goals per game!
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. That's why I succeed." -Michael Jordan
