Cheers...just realised that was in the 1970 SASF Yearbook ?
When did APAC change its name to Munno Para APAC. I used to go to watch them play in the 60's with Dave Hartley's son and I'm sure they were just APAC. Mind you that's a fair while ago.

Originally lodged the name APAC Ltd with the original Sunday Industrial League in 1965...can be exactly sure but (at least) by 1969 they were known as Munno Para APAC.

I remember going to watch a few Elizabeth Thistle games circa 1968-1970....recall Elizabeth West's colts playing on a nearby pitch with Ian McGregor (or Joe or Neil), Paddy Boyle, Clive Attridge, McNally etc...

Would of been Joe Mc I think Neil played for the fields. Played most of my junior football with McNally, Kevin Boyle. The guys you mention all a year up. Oh and you forgot Jimmy Barnes(Swan)

HAS A KEEPER EVER WON IT ? YOU WOULDV'E THOUGHT TISSY SIMEONI IN 1989 WITH ONLY 3 AGAINST FOR THE YEAR WOULDV'E WON IT
IF EVER A KEEPER WAS GOING TOO???
I'M TIPPING THERE WOULDN'T BE TOO MANY IF ANY, WHICH IS CRAZY WHEN ITS KEEPERS & DEFENCES THAT WINS DIV.1 LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS???
IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BROWNLOW....
Chris Ennis and probably should have won it the following year but we rested him for two games as we were in the cup semi. He lost by 1 vote.
Current Parafield Gardens squad would have to be the best the club has ever had & possibly the best SAASL team considering their history making season in 2013.
Hi Jay we miss you hope your well.

Hi Jay we miss you hope your well.
I did get to see APAC in the 70's a few times and play against Gardens and Findon in the late 70s...a few class players then....but you can't compare grapes with raisins....or vice versa.
APAC ruled the roost for nearly 5 seasons then went into the 3rd tier Federation and won that division.
Your talking about a very different style of football though nick, the football back then was completely different to today's . No question they had some fine footballers but what we have in the top flight of the amateur league is well and above those past days. The footballers are finding the amateur league a great competition and sometimes maybe as just rewarding. I am not blind to see over the years there has been some great players and good football but in my opinion you must thank people like Motts , cooky, simmo, and now me old mate Duanne for bringing absolute quality to this league that I love.
Bring on next season and let's hope it keeps pushing boundaries and keeps saasl a talking point in the football world .

You can never compare different times, just compare what they achieved in those times against their contemporaries
Still, some of the guys back then had great technical ability equal to many I see currently (considering the heavier footware, clothing and match balls) but I would also say that the top Federation league back then was in my opinion laden with some good talent fresh from Europe.
Agree Swannsong, just cant compare, so many differences from 40 odd years ago to now - would be interesting to have the opportunity to chat with Frankie Day get his thoughts as well.
Equipment, laws of the game ( back pass, off side, brought down by last man ), training facilities ( some nights we had 5 or 6 balls for training, lot of clubs couldnt afford more than that ) and methods, players were bit harder/tougher.
When you got tackled hard you didnt whinge, you got up and got on with it, try get them back next 50/50 ball, is one noticable difference, today's game too many players want to start some thing every time one of their players get knocked over in a tackle ( imo ).
Back then you had very few young players who were good enough to play federation playing in the amateurs, if they were good enough to play federation, that is where they would play. A lot of the good amateur players back then were too probably bit too old to play federation, that is why they played saasl.
Now with all the changes to the ffsa reserves/- u/23 - ? you have more players coming across to the amateurs, when ideally, they should still be playing in an environment where they are nuturing young players coming through the ffsa ranks - all good for the amateur league.
Hard to put into words what the early 70' era was like, best way to describe it....it was special.
