Both West Beach and Southern Knights with lots of outs on the day...Knights missing David Mooney, Rob Marsden, Chris Bradley and Ben Jones. Beach missing their Irish crew plus Robert Smith and Torsten Rutter. Scott Bradley, after only signing back on mid week (with his brother Chris heading OS for holidays) bagged 2 goals and Tom Salvemini, in his first game since pre-season friendlies, gave his all throughout the game. Matt Harrison dug deep after racing back from Melbourne work commitments with great support from Aaron O'Toole, Jamie Faulkner, Tom Foglia, Iain Stewart, Jimmy Stewart, Stephen Maguire, Lee White and Sam Ferguson. Leigh Harrison Anthony Micheal and Justin Moule added more effort from the bench for coach Jim McGuinness.
Knights games this season rarely have a shortage of goals and this Cup Round 2 game offered more of the same.
Interestingly in the 15 games Knights have played this year (7 league, 2 Cup and 6 friendlies) there has been a total of 104 goals....51 for and 53 against at an average of 6.9 goals per game
Great game to watch with the first seven goals all coming from headers..3-3 at half time and 4-4 after 90 minutes.
No goals (but several good opportunities and a briliant tip over by West Beach's keeper) in extra time..
After both teams had taken 5 penalties and converted 4 each... Beach up first converted their 6th. and Knights bowed out with 4 missing their 6th. penalty and Beach progress to Round 3.
*Not the best lighting conditions for penalties and the latter part of extra time.

After rushing from Trinity Gardens Primary to West Beach I arrived to hear after 10 minutes Knights were leading 0-1.

SAASL Reserve Cup - Round 2
ISC Raptors ( 4 ) Southern Knights ( 1 )
Two Southern Knights defensive errors gifted Raptors a 2-0 lead and Knights failed to recover playing with a lack of composure and structure. Raptors pounced on a miskicked clearance in the first minute and almost a repeat in the last minute of the first half to lead 2-0 at half time.
Raptors third goal was the best of the day with a fine drive from about 25 metres out. Knights pulled a goal back to make it 3-1.
Raptors made it 4 despite the allround calls for offside from the Knights defense.
Lacking key players such as Richard Finlayson, Sam Jones, Dustin McMahon, for various reason and having Sam Ferguson and Leigh Harrison Cup tied to the As left Southern Knights a bit thin on the park but those on the park contributed well.
With Knights squandering several chances, the final score 4-1, was somewhat flattering for Raptors but they were deserved winners on the day.
