Brahma Lodge ( 1 ) Southern Knights ( 4 )
Mark Beck..........................T.O.G.
......................................Scott Bradley
......................................Ben Jones
......................................Andrew Alvino
Southern Knights extended their unbeaten run to 5 games with a convincing away win over Brahma Lodge.
Knights lined up with a relatively unchanged side, apart from being minus Tom Foglia who had prior commitments and Chris Bradley holidaying in Waikiki.
Stephen Maguire in goal had Robert Marsden, Jimmy Stewart, Ben Vidgeon, Aaron O'Toole and Stuart Blyth defending in front of him.
Further upfield Ben Smith, David Mooney and Ben Jones took on midfield roles behind Scott Bradley and Andrew Alvino heading the attack.
Knights grabbed an lead early in the opening half when Brahma Lodge unfortunately deflected a David Mooney cross into their own net.
Lodge nearly bounced straight back but a fine save from Stephen "Maggy" Maguire kept Knights early lead intact.
Brahma Lodge also were unlucky when Mark Beck struck a fine shot against the Knights crossbar...from the rebound Knights moved upfield through Robert Marsden and onto Ben Smith who delivered a fine pass to Scott Bradley who sent in another of his long range efforts that left Lodge's keeper with little hope...0-2 to Knights.
Tony Reeves always looked threatening for Brahma around set pieces and also when laying the ball across the goalmouth on several occasions with Stephen Maguire being called upon to make several fine saves.
David Mooney looked impressive ( to quote Joe McGregor observing on the sidelines ) and his work rate has increased week by week but it was Ben Jones who put Knights 0-3 in front with a rare headed goal.
Brahma Lodge finally reaped some reward for their efforts when they scored a fine headed goal on the stroke of half time.
Chances fell to both sides in the second half and eventually, Andrew Alvino scored his first league goal for Southern Knights to put them 1-4 ahead.
After great contributions, Ben Smith and Ben Vidgeon made way for Tom Salvemini and Sam Jones, whilst later Andrew Alvino made way for Matt Harrison and the game finished with a gutsy 1-4 away victory for Southern Knights.
Hopefully the new found confidence at Southern Knights will help them push Premier Division Fulham United all the way in next weekends Cup round.
*Apologies that a few more didn't hang around after the game, thanks for the feed and best of luck to Brahma Lodge for the rest of the season.

Reserves
Brahma Lodge ( 2 ) Southern Knights ( 0 )
Not much to write about in the Southern Knights Reserves encounter with Brahma Lodge at Cockburn Green ( but seriously...who came up with that name for a park ?) apart from the fact that Brahma Lodge took their chances and Knights didn't.
Although Knights held ascendency during several periods during the game, losing Tom Salvemini and Sam Jones (required as subs for the As ) meant that some structure was lost from the side in the second half.
Tom Salvemini had put in an excellent game and almost opened the scoring for Knights, whilst Paul Thompson and Anthony Micheal also had chances to do likewise.
With Steve Fulton, Jason Rusk, Sladj Bilic, Perro Cokara, Chris Bradley, Dave Stewart and Tom Foglia not available various reasons, Knights delved into their playing stocks and still fielded what appeared to be a strong side.
Unfortunately the visitors didn't quite click on the day with many simple passes going astray and opportunities went begging.
Brahma Lodge however, took their opportunities in the second half and eventually ran out 2-0 winners.

Excellent work this week, swanny. The overcast sky is a great shot and your player-coach having a little wave gave me a good giggle
You do a good job for your club ... wish someone at our place could be as dedicated (our B Team coach gives it a good go, when he can).

I don't think either team could argue about the results, although in Football small things can change games. In the reserves at 0-0 one of our guys went on a 50 yard run - beat about 5 players and hit the side netting - if that had gone in, who knows!
In the first team with Knights 0-1 up Brahma dominated for about 20 minutes - with Knights keeper pulling off some great saves, before Brahma hit the crossbar with Knights going up the other end and scoring - could easily have been 1-1 with Brahma having all the momentum, however instead we went 0-2 up and Brahma never seemed to recover
