Saturday League Results - 2009/09/05

Post by Missing Post Count »

Dixision six:
Flinders 4 Adelaide 3
Rather a surreal experience rocking up at the carpark knowing the result didn't matter. Having said that that all disappeared when we took to the pitch. Congratulations to Flinders being the first team to put three goals past me this season. You didn't have to add a fourth thought!

Division Two:
B's: Comets 0 Adelaide 1
Unless Iggies win by a margin of double figures this should give FCA the title too. I played a few of these games too so overall it's been a good comeback season (and one I survived without injury). Comets missed a penalty but justice was done as it was never a penalty.

Sturt's stumble means they are level with St Peters but behind on goal difference & St Peters have a game in hand.

A great hatrick by Della verde, a great game to watch. Stirling Neva gave up and scored at the death. Thanx to the stirling supporters, and some players who stayed behind.

Division 4 result -

A Grade .....OISC 2 - Murray Bridge utd 3 :D

B Grade ......OISC - 4 Murray Bridge 2 (I think... could have been 5 to OISC)

Didnt see the reserves but the A grade game was a cracker! We (Bridge) went one down then drew level just before half time. Then we go 2-1 ahead..Then Iggies get a penalty with 7 or 8 mins to go to make it 2-2, then the player/coach pops up with an absolute cracker to get his third of the game and get us all the points with about 2 mins left on the clock!! A game that had it all..superb effort from the boys!!

I heard Vipers Ressies beat Iggies in Div 2 and OISC
keeper was sent off!
Does this means he misses the cup semi?
sad for him if true
The young boys said unto him....."go up baldhead, go up"......so he did, rose like a salmon and nodded the ball into the net......1 nil! :-)

Yes he was sent off, but he was the A Grade keeper for the first 10 games of the season before he got dropped meaning he didn't play for the B Grade in the early rounds of the Cup.

Results - 50% today

A at Vipers 2-2 draw
B at Vipers 2-3 loss
C v Murray Bridge 2-3 loss
D v Murray Bridge 5-2 win
E v Vipers 3-2 win

Good day out at Vipers today.

The end to the Division 6 game was interesting  It was commented later at the pub that it was the best club ref that they have had this season, so well in to whoever it was. The Es had a great season. I think only about 4 or 5 of those blokes had ever played organised football before, and they ended up 2nd or 3rd.

We had two goals disallowed in the Div 2B game but also our keeper sent off 3 minutes into the second half for a brain fade which put our backs against the wall. The (official) referee had some interesting interpretations of the laws of the game, especially the 'tying up shoe laces' and 'shirts tucked in' rule. Vipers scored a goalmouth scramble with about 2 minutes left to snatch victory. It wouldn't have mattered for us anyway as FC Adelaide won, but it was a didsappointing way to end such a promising league season.

We started on fire in the As and were up 2-0 after about 20 minutes. The referee should have sent one of the Vipers boys off after a horrendous tackle which means our right winger misses the Cup Semi next week (thanks). The first half went for 52 minutes and Vipers scored in the 51st to have all the momentum. Our right back was sent off for a second yellow (clumsy challenge) about two minutes into the second half and we were up against it. I know our coach is Greek but it was like watching Euro 2004 all over again  Vipers scored with 16 minutes left on my clock, but then our 'keeper showed why he was promoted to the As halfway through the season and made some amazing saves (as well as copping a knee in the head, which forced his right eye to close over!). I don't think we got over the halfway line aside from goal kicks and one attacking free kick. Bad luck to Vipers, ecstasy for Salisbury Villa.

Congratulations to Villa, your team was certainly the best team that we have competed with this year. This years competition is once again stronger than the previous year. As LUFC suggested we have alot to play for in our semi next week.

Also a quick thumbs up to Villa ressies for taking all 3 points against Stirling. The only team to have done so this year. Once again Villa reserves were a great competitive team to play against.

Go Hounds!

PS: Saturday clubs do your best to support our league and come out to cheer on BOSA in the cup.

Div 2 Monarchs 2 Sthrn Breakers 0 Fab Caruso with 2 well taken goals and allowing the Monarchs to finish on a high from div 2 after being relegated. Outplayed their opponents and could have won by 6 goals. Thanks goes out to the boys from Monarch land for an entertaining season even though we have been relegated there have been great and very funny memories!!! Many thanks goes to Frank Murabito who retired for the tenth time and Andy DB and Donny D for their testimonial having been the only players left from day 1. :D

was a hard fought tight game in the Bs, us comets missed a penalty in the second half and probably outplayed FC in the second half, but what i dont get is why would a mid 30s to 40 yo wana punch and start against a 18 yo...well done to the other Fc players telling AA to pull his head in.,.........was a very good game and congrats to FC for winning the title.......

F****N OATH!

Everybody in the league I've spoken to has proclaimed Villa as the best side in division 2, and today justice was served. Gotta send out thanks to OISC for doing Villa a favour in getting a result, but Villa truly deserve the title.

Unbeaten at home and only two defeats for the entire season, the makings of a champion team. Congrats lads, we've lived it up tonight!

Unlucky Vipers - a deserved top 2 side. See you in Div1!

STURT 2 - 1 SPOC
St Peters were cruising at 1 nil up, until we gave a pen away and they scored another from a cross that ended up in the net.

We were terrible after they scored, neither team really looked like they could be arsed playing. The only real contest was between Buckley and Baker, and unfortunately buckley won out again.

Very disappointing to lose again, and we somehow need to get ourselves up for Wednesday night???

SPOC are a true club that hinges on one control freak at the club, who has his hand in absolutely everything. He is driving out many players and coaches because he doesnt want to feel insignificant and bring in professional personell into the club (ie a physio!!!!!).

Anyway, rant over.... just a disappointed player.....

Thanks Bodes and LUFC. Good luck for the cup. Reckon I'll definitely try to get down to support you guys in the cup. You guys should be able to take Farm on a decent pitch that's not on the side of a hill.

Looking forward to next year.
