Briefly, it was a fairly hard fought game, plenty of strong tackling and good solid but fair body contact and the odd haircut or two on show.
Southern Knights were without Lyndon Parry, Sandy Neary and Mark Kay from the encounter with East in Round 8.
Gary Aitken, Chris Saggs and Adam Dunt were combining well for East and putting pressure on Knights defence.
After a quick heavy downpour, Knights lost captain Ben Jones following a clash in the middle of the park and Tom Jolly came on to replace him.
Knights struck first when David Mooney managed to put one past the diving East keeper.
Para Hills East were able to level the game before half time with a well taken goal from Adam Dunt ( I think ?).
After the break the game seemed to be fairly evenly balanced until Matty Harrison clipped the heels of an East player outside the penalty area.
The referee, some thirty metres behind play ran forward and awarded a spot kick without questioning the in-line linesman.
Chris Saggs put the ball past Ben "Touch" Vidgeon to give the home side belief that they would re-enact the Great Escape and avoid the drop to Division 3.
Knights came close to equalizing but it was Para Hills East who went further ahead when Adam Dunt added his second for the day.
East would have had a 4th goal but for a brilliant save by "Touch" from a long range dipping drive.
Congratulations to the resilience of Para Hills East for avoiding the drop.
Steve Macguire with his new hairstyle ( shave for a fancy dress quiz night apparently! )
Para Hills East gather to discuss Steve "Elbows" Macguire's newly acquired hair style. A show of hands as to who thinks it is the worst in the SAASL.
With Munno Para's mowhawks in second place !
Steve Hawkins clears under pressure.
Gary Aitken contemplates a Trevor Chappell styled underarm throw in !
Matt Daughtry rises above the East defence whilst at the other end Ben "Touch" Vidgeon gathers in an East attempt.
East push forward as Chris Bradley tries to avoid a fallen opposition player and Matty Harrison closes in.
Para Hills East captain Chris Saggs points the way during an intense but brief downpour.
Southern Knights grimacing captain Ben Jones is carried from the ground by trainer Mick Giblin and Johnno Johnson.
Tony Micallef and Chris Bradlet cause East a few problems as Knights mount an attack.
Chris Bradley looks on as David Mooney goes close to opening the scoring.
Tony Micallef shows his usually tenacity on the ball.
East look on as the ball drops into their net from a deft David Mooney touch
The obligatory celebrations.
Para Hills East take the game up to Knights.
Adam Dunt, Chris Saggs and stalwart Gary Aitken celebrate as East take the lead.
Knights go close to equalising on several occasions.
East back in numbers to protect their Division 2 status.
Knights aknowledge an excellent save fom Ben Vidgeon
Reserves - Para Hills East ( 8 ) Southern Knights ( 0 )
Can't say too much about this game but Southern Knights seemed to be holding their own against top of the table East until a series of yellow cards against the visitors
lead to the dismissal of a Knights defender. The game changed from that point on and was exacerbated when players were substituted to bolster the first team bench.
East just ran away with it at the end with the added bonus of 1, maybe 2 offside goals.
Knights keeper Richard seems somewhat airborne as a shot comes in from Para Hills East.
Sam Jones looks to distribute the ball upfield...East mount another aerial attack.
Mark Franklin shields his eyes as the sun emerges briefly from behind the storm clouds.
For a good while Knights held their ground against top of the table East.
Knights "mature" players Steve Jeynes and Richard Finlayson still see the fun of it all.
The aftermath of an excellent save.
Knights, down to 10 men concede the first goal.
The celebrations begin for East.
Sean McNeill and Boyd Lewis try against difficult odds to restore som balance to the game.
This sums it all up !
Direct from a corner with a little wind assistance !
Still time for an excellent save or two.
Still time for a goal ot two.
On a sadder note, there was a sense of shock on the bus on the way back from the game to hear of the passing of former player (and intending C-Team coach for 2010) Nick Lazczek.
I am quite new at the club but like all those those that knew him I pass on condolences to his family and friends.

That's why I put "I think ?", trying to keep track of a wandering 7 year old son can sometimes be distracting.tickets4cheese wrote:all three east goals came in the second half.

I was going to put a caption for this photo that read….
Due to the reconstruction of Para Hill East’s Clubrooms Southern Knights had to improvise a make-shift toilet for Ben Jones !

Excellent pics once again swanny. One of only a few who braved the downpour, clearly I was not one of them. Respects to all at S.K following their recent loss. Band together, it's what we all do best.
