RT - ACL injury

Post by downsboynow »

I've done my anterior cruciate ligament & I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who has called & msg'd me so far (from Downs & Gardens)!

Just to clarify a few posts: It wasn't from a dirty tackle, I hurt it earlier in the game & then when I jumped for a header in the second half it went... the pain was un-believable

Full knee re-construction required so I'm working towards early next season...

Thanks again!

Welcome to the acl reconstruction club...........it's hard to describe the initial pain isn't it? I did mine and drove home  Make sure you get Dr Greg Keane to do it at Sportsmed..........he is the best in his field.

Take it easy and make sure you do the exercises after the op.

Bad Luck.

Herad Keane is good.

I had mine done by Dr. Tony Spriggins @ Sportsmed, after a recommendation from my brother in law. DO NOT SEE HIM!!!!!

My brother in law, his brother and myself have all seen him and 3 for 3 are all shite.

I had mine done 3 years ago and have never played again because of the crap quality of the reco and the fact I can't afford to, nor want to, have it re-done.

Best of luck.

I done the ACL medial and latteral all in the one go last September and didnt see the doc for about 7 weeks, stupid i know, but they sent me too the Wakefield specialist in the city, cant remember his name but he was spot on. Told me the knee had repaired itself in the time i had taken to get attention carry on with rebuilding the muscles and hope for the best. All he said was that i would not be able to turn quickly any more, i laughed as i told him milk turns quicker than me. Just as things were getting better i went skiing to NZ and a blasted boarder took me out and the knee blew again, so back to square 1.

Good luck with the rebuild and if you need a strap for the knee get one with steel supports and medial support, i got mine from the sports store behind bunnings at mile end for 60 bucks i think, best thing i ever done.

I'm due for surgery next wednesday so hopefully all goes well based on the stories you guys have been through...

Dr Menz @ sportsmed is my surgeon, any news on him? He is apparently one of three surgeons contracted to the SANFL for knee re-cons so my fingers are crossed that he is good :?

Dr Keane does both AFL teams here so he can't be bad.

i've heard he's not bad,now he's got new glasses, and he's now got more help doing op's with the voices he hear's in his head,so i think you'll be in good hands........well at least 1 good hand, think he lost the other doing home DIY.

anyways, hope you make a full recovery and get back on the pitch next year, how old are you dude?will you remain at the downs?

Vista has lost 2 first team players to knee injuries this year,1 lad came through from the colts and stepped straight into the A's so it was a huge loss for us and him, showed huge promise as a defender.but at 17 i guess age is on his side(fingers crossed)the other is out for at least 8 weeks and just has to wait to see how it heals on its on.Add to that another first team player suffering a ankle injury our depth which we once had soon was no more.but were still managing to get results.and who knows maybe playing the downs next season???????.

R.T you are a great team man and have inspired many at the club this year, none more so than me. We have shared many laughs about things written about you and your million dollar salary. If only they knew. You play with pride and passion and thats the reason you slot in here so well.

Good luck wednesday and give the pethadine a workout it costs no more and works real good.

Is that right???
Million dollar salary??????
Thats strange cos I believe that was the figure R.T was looking for 2 join AV Metro this year.
ONLY Joking.

I have my knee done last year at wakefield hospital by a DR Butcher. Funny name but is a very well respected Knee Surgeon.

Its terrible to hear any player go out with an ACL injury no matter where he plays and for what team.
Good luck with the recovery son, and hope to see u give not only us but other teams, some more "PAIN" next year.

Good quality striker who should be playing higher up.

The rule is that 2 always go down (unless one of the two relegated teams drop out). That means 3 go up from the division below.

But I can't see AV moving to Saturdays as surely they would have to start in one of the lower Saturday divisions. Also they ground share with Metro who play Saturdays so surely it would not work.

Hope it all goes well but I must say u r dreaming if u think u r going to play again next season - it takes 12 months for elite sportsman to recover from a knee re-con with everything devoted to re-habilitation - I am sure u would not have the time like they do so 2008 is more relastic for you to aim for.

tom radford makes his long awaited comeback this weekend. He was firing on all eight at training this week. He has been out with a broken arm for almost three months.
