I imagine that front row centre is Earl Pudlers Dad ?
Is that Cliff Votier in the back row ?

E. Nuttall, any relation to Brian Nuttall ?

Are you referring to E.Allen in the back row, because I thought the same.

Things I am owed because they're too tight to pay up:

Colossus: One House

Costa: One Lunch

Oh and add in

Colossus: one photo and one letter from his "attorney".

I remember in my first junior years we had to get our own socks and not everyone in the team ended up with the same, so it looked a bit scruffy.
Mind you all the people who worked at GMH in the "old" days, you could be mistaken that it was a real mix, similar like the Barbarians in Rugby Union (ie they wear their own country's socks).

Actually in the olden days (1880's era) players didn't have numbers on their backs and were identified by their stockings (=socks).

Back then identification in Elizabeth was usually done by a Police line up !

How they finished up in 1966.

Image

Does anyone know why the name "Fijians" was used and how the 2 Fijians clubs were related.
I believe Rudi Templin used to play for them !

Joe Pirri turns up again.... goalie for GMH in '64, he played for Don in '68 and Elizabeth Thistle in '69.

I went to school with someone who played for one of those "Fijian" teams for a while.... I remember asking him about the name and he didn't know...!!

Adelaide Fijian went on to be known as Salisbury Fijian ( they used to share Salisbury United facilities ) and eventually became Pooraka United. I understand that several ex-pat Fijians of Indian decent started the team in the early to mid 60's.

APAC were a manufacturing company in and around Elizabeth/Woodville that supplied parts for Holdens. They became Clyde-APAC.

Cliff Votier was junior coach at Elizabeth City in the early seventies. I remember a game against Juventus Juniors at Ramsay Park and Cliff placed a black and white towell on the floor in the doorway. I remember watching every player walk all over the towell as they left the room, Cliff shouting' let's give it to em boys.' Cliff could really fire up the boys up, great motivator.
Dixie Dean was hailed by another Mersey legend, Liverpool’s Bill Shankly, as “belonging in the company of the supremely great, like Beethoven, Rembrandt and Shakespeare.”

60 goals, never to be equalled.

I was playing colts at Elizabeth City when Cliff was coaching u/18's. At the time we were told he'd played professionally at Crystal Palace. Another name I recognise from these pics is Wally Townsend. He was our Trainer when Tom Armitt coached at Elizabeth City. Hard as nails Yorkshireman who played centre half for Bradford Park Avenue when they still existed. He didn't have eyebrows, he had callouses where they should have been from all the times they'd been split open in challenges. Fantastic character and a reall football man.
