League Champion Tips

Post by Mr X »

With Round 1 done and dusted and the results in the real stuff has begun, has any results shown much in who will challenge for the title or be favourites for relegation?

Div 1 Sunday.

The Downs look the goods with a comprehensive win.
Inter, Gardens, PH West and Vale winners also.

Royal Park, USC Lion or NAB to battle out relegation to prop up the league.

What of Adelaide Villa shock round 1 losers?

Div 1 Saturday

BOSA losing, whilst Stirling St Peters winning well.

Div 2 Sunday

PH East, Ingle Farm, West BEach and Vista posting wins.

Limnos have dropped some crucial points?

div 1
downs

thought PG would be their main rivals, but they looked average against Florina, who could've quite easily done them in

bit hard to tell so early in the season
downs looked quite strong the other wk when i played against them in a friendly but things could change quickly in a team like that!

Sparts, do you play for??? Downs played definite relegation favourites, so hard to say they will be title contenders although a strong start...USC will start slowly, so many preseason injuries and players not fit. But im confident that we will be staying up this year...game could of had a different score on the weekend if we just took out chances. Get a few players back we'll do alright.

Ukranian Sports Club we split from Former Port Lion to form a Amateur team years back (apparently someone said Richie Aligich played a game for us ages ago)....although we got one Ukranian maybe 2 playing for us, we have serbian coach and a few serbian players now, its abit of a mixture also couple of aussies like myself. Home ground Grange reserve...Alot of new players(inlcuding myself) and a few first teamers injured just need time to gel.

If you/anyone wanna play for us give us a yell. hahaha Im recruiting, all welcome we got three teams although the c's are mainly for people who just want to play with out training.

good luck redders...they have gained a couple of very handy players...
they have enough forwards to fill two sides! should be very competitive for places down there! Mottsy has his work cut out!

why is every1 so surprised that Villa lost to Para Hills West??

They lost to them last year and drew the other game after equalising in the 95th minute so it looks like to me that Westies have the wood over Villa.

the referees for the As and Bs at the Vista v Limnos game on sunday were SHOCKERS.

in the As we (limnos) had about 4 players injured - and that is injuries due to takles etc - yet we were rewarded about 5 yellows to i think 1.

vista were dirty as, and it seemed as though the ref was scared to blow a free kick our way.

not happy jan.

and lets not forget the 3 players offside in the 2nd goal of the Bs - the ref didnt even look at the linesman.
everyone is entitled to my opinion

tsss

We (Vista) received at least 4 yellows and they're just the one's I can remember. We have never been accused of being dirty before, so could it be instead that some (not all) of your players are perhaps a bit soft? Especially in the reserves, a couple of your players spent more time on the ground than on their feet.

Apart from your coach who graciously admitted on this forum that we deserved to win the match, all I've heard from Limnos people on here is how hard done by you were from the referee. If we got the better of the referee's decisions so be it, the best team won on the day. Accept that you lost and move on. For the record we get that ref a lot and this is the FIRST time he hasn't fully screwed us (apart from the obvious penalty we should have been awarded in the first half, which Limnos forumites have conveniently forgotten about).

Are Vista the Gawler of Division 2? lol just stirring, one week in and the bad blood has begun. Avenell thought better of you to accuse a team of being soft I'm tipping they could use that against you. Wasn't there so can't comment but it's important to get good ref's against the "tougher teams"!

is curly still there

[qu

do you cheats still use curly as a lineswoman/it is a disgrace that you lot are in div 2 let alone talking about cheating refs.

Don't take offence MUFC Boy, we were both playing in midfield and you seemed like a good bloke, but that tackle you talk about when you went flying in the air was the biggest dive I've ever seen. You were suspended in the air for so long I thought David Copperfield had made an appearance at Modbury Vista.

Don't get me wrong, it was definitely a free kick, but talk about making the most of it!!!

About 20 or so mins into the first half right hand side of the box, our player was running with the ball towards the goal line, your player slid in, took his legs and none of the ball. Penalty the logical decision, but the decision went against us.

Anyway good luck with your recovery, hope your back for the return game cos its always good playing against quality players.
