April 12th/13th results

Saturday division one

First team: Modbury Jets 4 African Allstars 3
Reserves: Modbury Jets 2 African Allstars 2

Most of the first half of the reserves match was one way traffic. The Allstars should have been 4-1 up but poor shooting meant at half time they led 1-0. Modbury equalized in the second half thanks to some quick thinking. A quickly taken free kick lobbed the keeper who was well out of his goal and with keeper and defenders not paying attention the shot just had to be accurate. The Africans whinged like hell that the whistle hadn't been blown and the referee quite correctly told them that there doesn't have to be a whistle and the goal stood. From that point it looked as though the Africans' temperament would get the better of them. Modbury later took the lead after some poor defending lead them to regaining the ball. The keeper too should probably have done better at keeping the shot out but these things happen. The Africans equalized about five minutes from time.

The firsts' game got off to a bizarre start with three players ordered off to remover jewellery within the first eight minutes. Modbury took the lead whilst the first of those was off the pitch but it had no bearing on the goal. When a second African was ordered off to remove some item the first person ordered off for the same reason pointed out that a Modbury player was wearing a necklace and he was ordered off to remove it. He then re-entered the play without the referee's approval and was booked. The first half finished 3-2 to Modbury although the Africans could have made it 3-3 with a penalty that was fluffed. A goal a peice in the second half gave Modbury the 4-3 win.

Burundi 0-2 Red Blue Eagles (a's)
Burundi 1-1 Red Blue Eagles (b's)

Burundi was the dirtiest team I have ever come up against. Two footed challenges all day, hacking from behind, no sportsmanship at all. We kick the ball out for an injured player and never got it back. Then I reckon one of our players would have been seriously hurt if this dirty bottle of shiraz connected with a two footer. And we missed a penalty, hit the bar twice and their goal was a fluke.

The a's were always in control and Burundi continued to be dirty motherfuckers. Their keeper and our striker were chasing a ball near the corner flag, it went out and the keeper kicked our guy. Then he ran away, and only got a yellow for it. bottle of shiraz joke of a team they are.

BOSA 1 - 2 Stirling (2 - 3)

Not a great day for the hounds, hopefully we can lift our game against Modbury next week. With a bit of luck they will have all been in Antwerp sourcing new pieces of fine jewellery.

Are you from Villa?

Any comment on the penalty in the D's game? The person I spoke to said he couldn't believe the ref gave it from the half way line.

It was bottle of shiraz crap, all day these ridiculous challenges were coming in. Their linesman was a joke as well, calling our player offside in the last minute when he was at least three meters onside.

The ref was a fair distance, and not being biased because i am from villa, it was well inside the box - it did look like the defender was also the last man - however i wasnt in line either so i cant make a firm call on that.

I can understand their coach being livid, however, he was standing in line with the opposite 18 yard box and also the Iggies players didnt go THAT crazy when it was given - they were upset of course, but not over the top. As i understand it the player who gave away the foul didnt cop a card either.

Congrats to Saints for a good win they fought well at the back and deserved the win. Brian Gale was best on ground and saved Saints once again.

Uni were the more skillful side but could not convert and will need to make a few changes.

Danny Oliver got the 3rd. Uni are a good side, Brian certainly played well in the first half. Can't remember him having to make any saves in the 2nd half though.

did monkey boy play yesterday?a great pick up for the saints.we could certainly use a someone like him in the centre of our midfield.good ball winner, good skills, hard as barney rubble.only problem he will get sent off at least once a season.come back to sundays monkey, god will forgive you ,as he has for all of those late tackles.

St. Peters 3 - 1 Adel uni.

Well my prediction was pretty close!!! To uni's credit they have obviously recruited well over the summer and they will certainly win more than they lose. Well done to Saints as they hung in there, taking their chances, and managed to be 2-1 up at half time. In the second half Uni weren't really threatening and Saints did defend very well, not allowing any shots off. Good to get the win....

P.S the ref was a joke, as usual, as he booked about 5 SPOC players for little poofy fouls. Very frustrating!!! (NOTE:- yes Monkey Boy did get booked....)
