Amateur Leage Financials

Post by albion83 »

Anybody seen any Financial Reports of the Amateur League ?

Before I go throwing my ideas in the ring about referees, I would be interested to know where the SAASL funds go, what reserves they have, etc, etc.

The amateur league currently has a little under a million dollars in term deposits, which should get around 6% per year. I recon $60,000 might help solve the referee problem. dont you?

So nugget what are you suggesting.. that the league top up a referee payment to a higher amount ?? Rather than a club pay more ??

How do you plan to fix the problem exactly ??? We're all ears

now now, we cant expect the board to go without their long lunches and interstate trips for the sake of having refs at every game. asking them to put money back into the leagues is a bit to much to ask. :?

I'm not planning to fix anything robbo, all i'm suggesting is that club's need to start thinking about solutions to the problem, because let me tell you if your waiting for the league to fix it your dreaming. We have a $1,000,000.00 in the bank; & we all agree a huge problem with referee's. Would we be prepard to invest some money into the referee problem if it would help fix it ???

I think the Ref's deserve at the minimum of 100.00 a game, sure they sometimes stuff up , but we woldn't have a game without them.

Members of the SAASL committee travelled with the State Team when they played interstate. Also, the committee has a Xmas show every year. In all honesty, these people are volunteers and I think it is a fair trade off.

I'm in favour of paying Refs more. But not the current batch of Refs. If you pay more now the 65year old refs will hang around til they are 80. Offer incentives for the new refs coming through. Maybe pay more based on performance?? Clubs could give refs a grading after the game. We had a young linesman on the weekend against the Downs. Thought he had a great game and made some tough (correct ) decisions in front of the Downs' passionate supporters. Need more kids like him coming through.

was at the White City v Galaxy Super League game on the weekend and was sitting next to an official from the refs assoc. who grades the refs on the day.

I asked him how much the refs get for a 1st team Super League game and he said $185 for the main ref and $100 for the linesman.

Amateur refs defintely need to increase from the current $65.

If they're not getting at least 6.8% then they need to fire their financial adviser AND why they would only be investing in term deposits would have me completely at a loss.

What would you suggest? International shares?

REfs should get more, plus security escort at salisbury villa games 8) but money should be directed back into the clubs in some form, and why did player reg go up this year? It seems pretty simple that the league could make some sort of gesture? maybe spend some money on getting their website updated? just spend something on anyone except themselves!!!!!maybe save the murray appeal or free david hicks appeal or even sponsor a float at the mardi gra

The State League(3rd Division Federation) referee's fees are $135 compere that to our First Division of $85 the difference looks just about right.I don't think our club would like to pay more as it is a struggle to keep up with all the fee's.
Even with the increase in the player's registrations this year we were told that the levy to the Australian Federation is $12 per amateur player,of which the Amateur League pays half.

s for what they get in the state league, the SAASL refs should be on the same wage or there abouts considering many amateur teams are better than what the state league has...

Theres not much difference at all...!!!!

The State league is crap...

Depends on the mix they are looking for. International shares are higher risk but generally do carry higher returns over the long term.
