I think it does matter how AFL expanded.... it expanded from Melbourne; it is basically a Melbourne game. The code of Aussie Rules expanded from Melbourne in the 19th century; AFL expanded from the VFL in the 1980's. It is still dominated by a Melbourne based hierarchy. Sure, it is bigger than the A...

Still like to know how the afl is more national than the A League... Afl slightly in front because they have some games played in tas and nt( though no teams based there). So I suggest they win on penalties . Yet AFL will probably never play in NZ! So A League actually has a wider scope... A League...

.... And there was a Port Thistle in the federation at one stage; they were around from about 1930 to 1957, when they amalgamated with Port Adelaide. They won a couple of league titles in the 1930's. Johnny Moriarty and Charlie Perkins began their playing careers with them.

Admittedly I've no idea when they are going to be shown- I've only come across them by chance.

There is a game on Fox right now- GB beating Brazil 1-0 with a minute to go....
