Re: New Junior Structure 2014
Does it really matter what league your juniors play in as long as the coaching staff are developing players......? I have learned that in the lower leagues there are some challenges you have to come accross when trying to develop players and teams, but in general, development will occur if managed ...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014
what about the Premier league clubs that struggled this year, there are many that were thumped, they will no go to even stronger leagues to get more thumped, oh I forgot these teams are going to have cream of the crop now to choose....... Players move to clubs, not always the league, I can vouch fo...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014
If my son or daughter was any good, they will be spotted at any club. Maybe the coach at that State team is better than the coach at the Premier league, this is not a keep everyone happy but I think it will not affect the majority. Cant argue with this. They more then likely would be spotted once t...

Except you have forgotten to include those "B" teams who would have gotten promoted to the A's. And "nearly relegated" isnt relegated is it???? Dont those players deserve the opportunity to play again in the As? And I am thanking my lucky stars my son doesnt play juniors anymore...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014
Th reverse of mattys comment is that a u12 team that played in the central division this year which is by far the toughest league and finishes middle or even bottom will play in the B or even C division next year. There players will also leave and go hunting for A division football next year. So th...

I think its decided, just want some feedback from clubs Surely there wouldn't be too many complaints, only a couple of State League clubs might have a whinge shocking statement. Every state league club would whinge. They would lose 90% of their juniors. Kids/Parents WANT to play in the highest divi...

Im told Metrostars Under 16's dropped their age relevant players from 17 and 18's , however, their under 15 side was their regular side. In the end as long as all players are the correct age, the better teams won on the day, lets congratulate them all and move on. they did this all year, in the lea...

Re: U18 Substitution/Interchange Rules
I believe a couple of more experienced players in reserves helps with the development of the others, especially GK's. I'd be happy to have a GK in his 20's, even a captain thats in his 20's. This is a huge point, and is something a lot of people underestimate. I coached u15's last year, and im prou...

Some very valid points in there however if we are making a comparison to school teaching would you be happy sending your child to a school where the teachers do not have the relevant qualifications necessary to teach...? very valid point. I coach believing development is essential. But i have also ...

u12 Comets 3-0 Playford. A very good game played in tough conditions. My boys played well, 3 errors trying to play out from the back that were punished. Can accept that as a coach. Re: Never seen before
In a game this weekend I saw something that I'm pretty sure I've never seen before from the referee. All I saw was the referee give a player a yellow and award the other team an indirect free kick just outside the box and, when I asked the lino who was standing nearby what it was for, he said it wa...

Re: player developement?
i think its important to be aware of the circumstances before judging teams, coaches, clubs on dropping players. dropping players from a higher age group dosen't necessarily mean they're coming from a better league. Coaching the u12's, there are several players playing in the 13C's who tried out for...

U17 Salisbury United 5-4 White City (city up 4-1 half time) Should've been 6-4 but their linesman cheated... Why do we have to have this discussion all the time? The lines-person is not a qualified official, they are doing the best that they can. No parent wants the responsibility to run the line, ...

Noticed that this year the players card doesn't actually have a picture of the player on them, just the name and registration number. Anyone understand the reasoning behind this? it's always interesting when a "what makes a good coach" topic pops up in junior forums, and 99% of replies talk about how the coach should encourage the players to use the ball properly and keep possession, while developing the ability to beat a man... do any coaches from 12-15s teach pl...

Re: Prerequisite to coach
As an under12's coach, i find it very interesting to listen to you all talk. I assume you're parents? I've found that convincing parents that development, and not necessarily results, at a young age is of more importance. Having said that, results are important. Teaching a winning mentality is vital...

I must admit I'm very skeptical when somebody touts a youngster as a "promising talent". Majority of the time the lad has 1 of 2 things; Pace or Strength (sometimes both). Physical attributes help a lot of kids dominate are youth level, but find themselves technically exposed one they reac...

Re: Are goal keepers slowly becoming extinct?
I still believe there are plenty of goal keepers out there, the issues is with coaches. Many coaches believe that keepers are just keepers, and that they can go off and do their own thing until required for shooting practice at training. You see alot of keepers standing around at training not doing ...

in terms of development, is winning everything? No. But is breeding a winning mentality important, then yes. You want kids to hate losing, to go that extra yard in the final minutes and show the desire, hunger and passion to win football matches. These are the kids that succeed. The ones that are dr...

Re: Scholarships and Sponsorships
Why can't coaches and clubs coach to win, while also developing? If a club is bottom and a new coach comes in and they move to mid table (from winning) then a year later the same team comes top (from winning) is that development or coaching to win? Don't blame the coach because they took players or...
